Background
Brokk Grothaus grew up on a remote mining colony. It was boring, dangerous and the pay sucked, so he soon ran off to join the IMPERIAL NAVY. Which was also boring, dangerous, and the pay sucked. So he DESERTED and got a job with some freelancers. He did that for a few years, until one night, in a SPACEPORT CANTINA, he was playing cards against some jerk who was cheating. Brokk ended up knocking the man down, and was about to deliver a few swift kicks to remind him of the impoliteness of cheating, when the man's four friends showed up. It turned out they were off-duty STORMTROOPERS, and after they had given Brokk a fairly thorough beating, he was turned over to the magistrate for the charge of assaulting an IMPERIAL OFFICER. He was quickly convicted and sentenced to transportation. It was something of a relief that it happened so quickly, since they didn't notice all those other crimes he had committed. He could have been sentenced for life, or even worse... forced to rejoin the military.
Motivation
Crime: Brokk doesn't like the empire's obsession with 'rules' and 'taxes' and 'product safety regulations'. He doesn't have a problem with organized crime, since they are the ones who serve the market the best. Disorganized crime... well, that's just annoying.
Obligations
Criminal (10): Although recently convicted of assault, he also has outstanding warrants for tax evasion, possession of stolen property, money laundering, impersonating an Imperial officer and practicing law without a license. Oh yeah, and he's technically a deserter as well.
