Kerr Rente backstory by Bobby

Born to Duros parents of modest means, 4 year old Kerr was put up for adoption when his parents parents vanished leading an expedition contracted by some ambitious mid level politician to the unknown regions. The Bothan couple who raised Kerr did so as a sort of social experiment, instilling their knack for perceptiveness and a sense of value for acquiring secrets. When Kerr was 11 his adoptive parents, the Dahars, had a baby girl of their own, giving Kerr a sister, Cinis.

Seeing an opportunity for another experiment, the Dahars gave Kerr the responsibility of watching over her. While Kerr was more a creature of pontification, content to dream of discovery with no real inclination to physically pursue it; Cinis was a wild, adventurous, reckless girl. She craved discovery, begging her older brother to take her to see the stars. He never did when he had the chance. One day in the local market (insert logical location) a grenade went off. Among dozens of injured, 9 year old Cinis was the only casualty. Black Sun? Rebel assault? Imperial enforcement? It doesn't matter, a girl is dead. The Dahars were paralyzed by grief and the realization that their neglect is a prominent reason for this tragedy. Kerr realized he had been a side character in his own life so far and ran away.

Completely on his own at 20, five years an adult already by Duros standards, Kerr stowed away on ship after ship wandering aimlessly, running from his guilt, his memories, himself. He strives to live the life his sister never had. Kerr picked up few possessions and extensive knowledge spending a dozen years in the black...
