Background
A young Sullustan orphan named Turee Yuun constructed PNG0-LIN ("Pango") from spare parts at the 301st Public School for Non-Humans on the planet Carida. She repurposed the mine-laying machinery found in standard LIN-series droids to lob things rather than lay them, turning Pango into a nimble water-balloon thrower.
When Turee debuted the droid during show-and-tell one day, her teacher was aghast that the girl's "invention" was in fact a piece of military-grade hardware and that she had brought it to school. The Sullustan was expelled, and the Empire wanted custody of her for alleged ties to the Rebel Alliance. The Imperial judiciary threatened the director of the her orphanage with treason charges if the girl wasn't turned over for interrogation. The kindhearted director instead smuggled Turee aboard a bulk freighter leaving the world.
Turee wound up on Nal Hutta. Now a runaway, she was taken in by a small-time Hutt named Guapa, who took an interest in Pango. The gangster forced young Turee to retrofit the droid for gladiatorial contests, hurling grenades rather than water balloons. But Turee added a failsafe to protect herself: First, Pango will only take orders from Turee Yuun herself, and second, if anything ever happens to her, Pango has orders to get into Guapa's penthouse and detonate the explosives carried within his chassis—preferably when Guapa's at home.
Motivation
Droid Companion: PNG0-LIN is the droid companion of the young Sullustan girl who built him, Turee Yuun. He feels a strong urge to protect her and please her in everything he does. He doesn't relish fighting or killing, but he knows that's currently necessary to keep Turee safe from Guapa the Hutt.
Obligations
Blackmail: PNG0-LIN is being forced to fight in arena combat by Guapa the Hutt. If the droid refuses, Guapa has promised to turn Turee Yuun over to Imperial authorities for alleged ties to the Rebellion.
Description
Pango is in most ways a typical LIN-series demolitionmech. His design has been slightly modified to allow him to hurl grenades rather than exclusively drop mines. The droid's personality is fairly simple, more akin to an intelligent companion animal rather than a fully sapient droid. He gets his greatest pleasure from pleasing his master, Turee Yuun, and currently, the way to do that is to win in gladiatorial combats.
