Middle Class Struggles, In It For The Money

While growing up, Sien's parents ensured he never wanted for anything important - other than more parts for his speeder. Now that he's on his own and without a steady job he feels the lack of stability, and would like to get back to that place again. Still somewhat immature, he will tend to take the immediate payout over the longer-term reward unless he can easily see how it will put him back on the track to financial stability.

Innovation (Technological Fascination - Speeders)

While many people are fascinated by starships, Sien's focus is more down-to-earth: he loves ground speeders of all varieties. Bikes, Swoops, passenger vehicles - he finds their personal practicality and accessibility more appealing then a starship that can only be attained by the very few.

With Keyan's revelations about the accident, Sien not only knows he is innocent - he knows (roughly) who was responsible. Unfortunately, he still needs more details to prove it, and he'll need more than that to prevent a gang war and keep his family safe when the truth does come out.

Blackmail (5)
{gang C} is too small to exploit a war between {gang A} and {gang B}. They can, however, take advantage of the fact that Sien believes he would lose also, and are holding the threat of sparking that war over his head as an alternate way to profit from the situation.

Before his birth, Sien's parents emigrated to Dorvalla, using their previous mining experience on Sullust as a springboard to better jobs then they could get with Sorosub Corporation. The young family integrated well into the multi-racial society and developed a comfortable lifestyle. Sien was the middle of three children; his elder sister eventually went into management, while his younger brother followed their parents' footsteps and became a miner. While his parents were sympathetic to the Nebula Front's stance on the spice trade and slavery, their upbringing on Sullust ultimately left them siding with the Trade Federation.

As a youth, Sien strayed a bit farther from his roots, developing a love of speeders, and for racing. While his family indulged this as a "passion of youth" they used it as a learning opportunity, giving him only a fairly basic speeder and some assistance with larger components - when he could present a solid case for their value. Needing to rely primarily on his own funds (limited, as a teen), he was typically limited to buying used or scrap parts due to the cost. Fortunately, his native technical ability was sufficient to rebuild and improve most of these parts, giving him a speeder far more capable then people expected; it also left him with a strong recognition that if he wasn't earning cash he wasn't making progress towards his next upgrade goal.

Sien had some success on the local amateur circuit, and was just starting to break into bigger races when disaster struck. On the third lap of the annual {race name} {racer A}'s (a member of {gang A}) speeder broke apart, killing him and injuring a half-dozen spectators. Investigations identified Sien as the saboteur. With both the authorities and {gang A} after him Sien felt he had no choice but to flee his family and Dorvalla even though he knew he was innocent.

Since that time, Sien has wandered, typically working as a mechanic for bounty hunters or other similar groups. Recently, however, he was contacted by Keyan Dom. Keyan identified himself as a member of {gang C} from Dorvalla, and suggested that they had information Sien would not want to become public. Specifically, Sien had been framed by {gang B} in their operation to reduce the local standing of {gang A}. Unless Sien was willing to do some jobs for them, {gang C} would reveal this information, sparking a gang war between {gang A} and {gang B}, which would be very bad for his hometown, and possibly his family.
