Background

Born and raised most of his life aboard an older model herdship, Neelig Caab spent his days as an assistant to many of the mid-level Ithorian priests, playing hintaro and meditating with his brothers, and all together leading a peaceful, typical Ithorian life. That is, until one day while the herd begrudgingly refueled on Nar Shaddaa, the day the Empire struck. Before Neelig knew it, he was promoted to elder ,at the age of 37, of a small group of teenaged Ithorians before being told that that he and his group could not accompany them in their escape. Perhaps they thought the group was better off with a sure chance of safety on the smuggler's moon, perhaps they desired the group to assist the people affected by what was to come. No matter what the reason, Neelig and his group were stranded in Old Duros as they watched that herdship erupt into flames, plummeting in the horizon. They were alone now on a durasteel world barely containing any kind of flora or fauna to speak of- an Ithorian hell.
At first, Neelig tried his hardest to find a way to provide for his new family and to keep them on the right path. But, as the days passed by many of his flock succumbed to the violence of the region, 5 had died in the first few weeks alone. While taking shelter in an abandoned bakery a rodian thug attempted to rob the herd, holding one of the youths at blaster point. Everything inside of him went cold, went black, he saw nothing and only slightly felt his footsteps and heard his deafening roar, shaking the very ground he stood. When he had finally come to his senses the Ithorian elder looked down to see his stark white staff intermingled with deep red blood, a corpse laying at his feet and a choir of adolescents forced to their backs, truly aghast. It took him an entire week to come out of the depression that followed, the most sacred of his laws shattered along with the children's trust. Many left him, and many fell to the corruption of the city with only a few staying by his side during the turmoil that was to come.
Though he tried to find peaceful ways to provide for the remainders word of his act had spread to various criminal organizations who in turn succeeded in recruiting him for freelance enforcement opportunities. Though first abhorred by these offers, as their poverty grew the Ithorian found he had little choice. For years he would collect from the debtors and seek ways to reconcile old conflicts between warring parties. In all his work he made sue never to kill again, though during jobs where words would not succeed a few broken bones or a concussive blast were found to be effective. Though profit flowed to his group his shady business soon took its toll on the remaining younger ones who set out to find their own paths without the hypocritical elder, some honorable while others not so. Although some would return for short intervals for credits or housing, which he was all too happy to oblige, for the most part the elder was alone. As the days grew he began to make a name for himself as a bloodless peacemaker, some calling him "Patience" due to his unnervingly kind threats and restraint while others knew him as "The Angel of Old Duros". The money he earned flowed not just to the Ithorians, but to all the down trotted and unfortunate as Neelig lived in poverty, only saving enough to survive on and gift his herdsmen whenever they would come to visit.
With the conflict finally over, however, Neelig sees a ray of hope in this unfettered darkness. His herdship laid within the scrapyards, perhaps some of the technology could be salvaged. Perhaps they could rebuild the vessel into a suitable home, a suitable colony away from ll the violence that had begun to permeate their souls. Perhaps in the scrapyard lay not only his but the herd's salvation.

Motivation

Spirituality- As a follower of the Ithorian philosophy, Neelig wishes to spread peace, cooperation, and a respect for nature throughout his steps. Not only that, but he also wishes to learn about the faiths of others and to help the misguided as well as his fellow Ithorians find peace within themselves throughout whatever peaceful means necessary.

Clan- His ultimate goal has always, and always will be, the safety of his herd and their preservation. Neelig wishes to provide for them in any way possible, so long death is not involved, and has gone to great lengths in the past to keep them safe. Finding a new home away from the dark and sinful city is the only reason why he decided to leave Old DUros for the scrap yard in the first place.

Charity- Intertwining with his spiritualism is his desire to help and support the poor and downtrodden economically, spiritually, physically, and emotionally even if they were former targets in the past (sometimes especially).

Obligations

Oath (10): Neelig, though he has broken it once, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Ithorian way of life, tough his interpretation might seem a little liberal to most other Ithorians. Because of this, Caab has vowed never to kill another living creature, instead stunning his foes or crippling them and only after words have no longer any use. However, his one kill might be haunting him in more ways than one...
Responsibility (10): His failure on keeping the herd together has torn at Neeligs soul all these years. With the near dissolution of his herd Neelig has to deal with his herdsmen, whether that being protecting them from danger, giving them funds, or finding them a new home among the crashed vessels. No matter what, Neelig keeps his role of Elder in his heart and must deel with their problems as they come to him.

Morality:
Emotional Strength- Love (Core Version)
Emotional Weakness- Recklessness (Guardian Version)

Description

Standing at about 7 feet tall, Neelig is a lean, muscular, 42 year old male of his species. Light brown in hue and sporting deep black eyes to most he seems to be your typical run of the mill Ithorian. He wears a hooded heavy cloak, greyish green in color on the outside and a deep green within, that comes down to his knees while in his hands he is often seen holding a long staff made out of gnarlroot wood with the top carved into the image of a common iriz head pointed towards the sky (which he received right before being stranded on Nar Shaddaa) . Under his cloak he wears a simple deep grey shirt and grey-green pants while on his left ring finger is a small gnarlwooden ring which seems to be singed in the empty socket that should hold the gemstone.

Personality wise Neelig is quite calm, patient, and caring. It takes quite awhile for the Ithorian to finally spring into physical confrontation. Even when coercing and strong-arming his targets he still keeps a sense of kindness and good-naturalness, something he plays on to unnerve the uncooperative. While not currently embroiled in business Neelig enjoys casually playing games of Hintaro with the other inhabitants of Old Duros, spending time with what few visiting herdsmen are left, or conversing with the locals at various junctions. He possesses a rather dry sense of humor, and though he is committed to the Ithorian law of life he has no problem non-lethally ending a conflict in order to remove the chance of bloodshed and even once went beyond this stance to eliminate a rather vicious individual even though it still haunts him to this day.
