Background
Thorbjorn Sigbrandsson was always an odd case, born to a family of Deathwatch members he cared not for the physical act of fighting for fighting sake. He always preferred to be in his own personal happy place, a mountain of books and a collection of tools. Thorbjorn loved to craft things, so much so that he left Mandalore and headed to an Imperial design school, after acing all the tests he was hired as a “designer” on the Death Star. Of course the Empire couldn't have a Savage work in any major capacity, especially one who was only out of their academy's, so he was hired as a minor design consultant on the Durasteel plating on the Quad-barrelled anti-fighter turrets, the pay was good, and the people passable.
It was here that Thorbjorn learned to slow down a little, with his job being so minor there was no chance of anyone important coming into the meetings, so he was free to put his feet up, crack open a cold one and take it slow. This earned him the ire of the rest of the designers though, so they devised a plan to trip up Thorbjorn. They would place a mistake in my notes, a big enough one where-as the plating would fail to contain the heat due to it being of an improper heat-yield. This did not go unnoticed however, just because Thorbjorn was laid back did not mean he wasn't working, he certainly was. He was simply taking it slow, and making sure everything was right. So, when he was going over his notes while a design meeting was occurring he found a small error, he fixed it and the plans worked as normal, however he decided to get back at them, and increased the yield of the guns ten-fold, increasing the yield of the plating accordingly. This meant that the turrets were practically invincible to fighters, even Y-wings would have trouble bombing it apart.
It was with horror then when while on his ranch on a small moon out in the unknown region, a man must have his comforts even when they cost two years pay to build, he saw the broadcast showing the destruction of Alderaan. To him it felt like he was partly responsible for those deaths, he now had more blood on his hands than his entire family, and it hurt. He didn't let himself be destroyed by it, he instead started working on his masterpiece, a design so great it would change the galaxy, and stop this from ever occurring again. And so that night Thorbjorn Sigbrandsson started working on the design for a cheap, movable, reusable, portable Planetary shield.
Alas his suffering was not yet over, one night while he was close to having a breakthrough an emergency broadcast occurred, it was when he saw the rebellion attacking the first Death Star he knew something that horrified him was true, his little revenge cost the lives of over three squadrons of rebels. They futilely attacked the turrets, and died because of it, Thorbjorn now had direct blood on his hands, and so he steeled himself, yet did not change, and he worked, and worked, leaving only to resupply, learn new innovations and to catch up with old friends. And during one of those trips he witnessed the fireworks that signalled the end of the Empire. Or so everyone thought....
Twenty years have passed, and since then Thorbjorn has taken up a promise, he meets a woman, the light of his life, yet she was cold, she died nought but a year after he met her. He promised her to never change, and to change the galaxy. She always was the optimistic, romantic type.
So, with his rifle at his side, and toolbox in hand he left to become a Mercenary. Quite a change from what most people would think that promise meant, however, this is what she would have wanted.
She always did like the Anti-hero type.
Motivation
Cause- Progress: With the State of the Galaxy very little progress can be made. Sure we might be "Recovering" but there are always people willing to step on the little guy. I grew up on Mandalore during Duchess Satine's Reign, I lived through the rise and fall of the Empire, I helped build the Death Star, I know what happens when things look like they are rising to greatness. This new Republic will fall eventually, and I'll be there to pick up the Pieces. Because as much as things break, they are always able to be rebuilt.
Obligations
Promise: Katkeel promised that she had forgiven me, I promised to Save the Galaxy, somehow I think I got the Better end of that deal. Now that I promised I have to follow through, everything else is just padding. A man always follows through on his word, no matter the cost.
Integrity: When the chips are down and everything has gone to hell in a hand basket a man only has one thing that is true, his word. Nothing that leaves my mouth is false unless absolutely necessary, I wouldn't sacrifice innocents for my morals. I'm not going to cost anymore innocent lives, even if it costs me my own.
