Background
Takane was born in the Core, to a moderately wealthy family just before the rise of the Emperor. She doesn't recall the name of the planet of her birth, only that it was one with a long history of human colonization, and one where their traditional values and practices were strong, despite the changes overtaking the Galaxy.
She doesn't remember, however, because of a battle between the then-Republic forces and Seperatist forces took place above the city when she was four, and debris, stray laser blasts, and the clashing armies devastated the city below. Many families suffered heavy losses, but few homes were hit quite as hard as the Fujiwara compound. Both her parents, her older brother, and her elderly grandmother were all killed, along with most of the droids and staff. Only a lone butler remained to get her to safety.
When the battle was done and the last destroyer had jumped to hyperspace, the two armies leaving those in the ruins below to fend for themselves, their butler placed a call to Takane's grandfather, now her only living relative. She was not happy about being placed in the man's custody: her father had disagreed vehemently with the old man and he had left, a family disgrace, for another world.
When she first went to Antar 4, the homeworld of the gotals, young Takane was an angry girl. The luxury she was accustomed to left behind, her family dead, and her guardian the one man she was certain she hated. The high gravity and extreme environment of Antar 4 did not do much to help her temperament, either. But her grandfather was not harsh, although nor was he soft. He took her rages in stride, and slowly taught her the virtues of hard work, discipline, and most importantly, honor. And when she was ready, she was given a sword.
From twelve, she trained in the martial arts, focusing on the traditional curved blades of her heritage, honing her body and mind. As she trained, often while meditating, she sometimes felt a deep connection, like she was floating in a vast ocean, the tides pushing and pulling her in different directions.
Eventually, however, her grandfather, already an elderly man, took ill, and there was nothing the doctors could do. It was a local infection that humans were not biologically equipped to endure. On his deathbed, Takane's grandfather bade her two things: take his sword as her own, and to go out into the Galaxy to find her destiny. As a starting point, he told her to find and old friend of his on Garuu, who could help her along her path. So she left, going off-world for the first time since she had come, looking for something she knew not what. But that ancient and infinite tide pushed her forward...
Motivation
Fujiwara Takane has trained for some time, and believes resolutely in the virtues of Justice and Honor. While the mandate from her grandfather is to find her destiny, she is certain it involves bringing peace and justice to as much of the Galaxy as she can.
Currently, she seeks her grandfather's friend, as he bade her to do, but she does not hesitate to help those in need and stand in the way of those who would bully the less fortunate. Her ideals, however, have not yet been tested against the rigors of the Galaxy, and she may be in for a shock when she is forced to realize that things are not as black-and-white as she believes.
Morality
Morality: 50; Conflict: 0
Emotional Strength: Justice
Emotional Weakness: Anger
Takane has taken the teaching of her Grandfather to heart, and believes fully in the pursuit of justice. However, the anger of her youth still boils within her, and when her ideals are strained to the limit, it might lash out.
Description
Takane is on the shorter side for a human woman, but possesses a lean, athletic build honed from years in martial training. She has brown eyes beneath canted lids, and her long, black hair is often held back in a tail.
What she wears is rather simple, clothing woven in ancient patterns but using modern synth-fabrics that provide enhanced protection, and a spacer's duffel filled with her essentials. The only other obvious thing of note is the long metal sword she carries. The curved blade is not a vibro-blade of any kind, nor is it made of durasteel; it is just plain steel, almost a relic of a time long past, more of an antique than a weapon, really. I mean, just what kind of damage could such a small woman do with something like that?
