Background
Born in a small underwater settlement named Ral Kyeth on the homeworld of Nautolans, Glee Anselm, Lophen Dolos was regarded by his peers and elders as a friend to everyone. Never quick to fight, Lophen would act as an intermediator between his peers, always keen to avoid conflict. When fights did escalate, he would always take the side of the weak, believing it was his duty to protect those who could not protect themselves.
In his late teens, Lophen's peaceful existence was abruptly brought to a halt by Imperial expansionism. An Imperial survey team discovered a rhydonium deposit deep in the ocean underneath Ral Kyeth. With the Galactic Civil War raging, and demand for starship fuel at an all-time high, the Empire began constructing a drilling ship in the sea directly above Ral Kyeth. Knowing his village was woefully underprepared for conflict, Lophen took the village's fastest underwater vessel to the capital in hopes of launching a successful defense. By the time he returned, the entire village had been slaughtered. The centre of the village was punctured by a drill extending to the water's surface. They mustered a futile attack against the platform in which many were killed. The empire took all the able-bodied men for low-level work, or to be sold off-world to slavers.
Lophen Dolos was one of the latter group. The Empire sold him to Maredd Burrick, a petty human criminal who ran an outer rim spice mining operation. Even while he endured the horrible conditions of slavery under a low-rent criminal, Lophen always believed in the kindness of others. He worked to earn the trust of his fellow slaves, and eventually convinced them to launch a revolt. While he and seven of his captive brothers were able to escape, Maredd vowed that they would be hunted down and tortured prior to their gruesome deaths.
Lophen has been aware of his connection to the force since his childhood on Glee Anselm, but has not yet actively utilized it to his benefit. He can often heighten his Nautolan ability to sense others' emotions, but has only succeeded in manipulating others with this ability a few times. He has only accessed his true connection to the Force in the most dire of circumstances - using it to generate a visual distraction during the slave revolt, for example. He has never seen a trained force user in action, but heard stories of Kit Fisto, a legendary Jedi Master who sat on the council during the last years of the Galactic Republic. The force is Lophen's ally. He secretly hopes to one day gain a deeper connection to it, instead of using it as a tool to escape challenging circumstances.
Since the revolt, Lophen has been on the run from Burrick's low-rent bounty hunters. In his travels, he has met many people who have required his help, and often, protection. He has felt deep conflict over whether to protect those under Imperial oppressive rule, but he knows the consequences of doing so without careful strategy.
