Aan Tak was born on Malastare where his flying skills earned him a position as a fuel tanker pilot. When the Empire took over the fuel production on Malastare, Aan had to witness a constant lowering of security standards to increase productivity, despite his colleagues and him warning their imperial superiors about possible accidents. One day while he was on a transport flight an explosion at a fuel terminal killed many of his coworkers. Despite this accident the imperials refused to reintroduce safety measures. Aan got more and more frustrated with the imperial disregard for especially non-human lifes. It was in this situation, that he was approached by an agent of the rebellion who offered him a chance to actually influence the imperial policy. The rebel cell limited it's attacks strictly to avoid any casualties. The imperial answer was less restrained killing most of the cells members. Aan escaped and rebel agents helped him travel to Dantooine where they tried to form a new fighter squadron.
