When Jonus' homeworld's government was overthrown in a violent coup, he tried to focus on his studies, even as the government became more and more oppressive. Jonus' brother Jarrin joined the resistance early, but couldn't convince Jonus until a government airstrike leveled the hospital he was training at. Unfortunately, they found themselves on the losing side of an increasingly devastating war.
Finally, a glimmer of hope shown through. Jedi were being sent on behalf of the Republic to mediate a cease-fire. The Jedi arrived, Jonus and his brother were part of the team sent to negotiate with the government. When the talks broke down, they were all arrested by the government. When he appealed to the Jedi for help, Jonus will always remember the fear in the Jedi's eyes as he stammered that it was an internal planetary matter and the Jedi Order couldn't get involved.
That night, the members of the resistance were broken out of their cells and smuggled out of prison by a man identifying himself as Republic Intelligence. He told them to keep their heads down and he would send backup as soon as he could.
They barely got back to their hideout when the government launched the most widespread offensive to date. The resistance, trying to spare civilian targets, made a fighting retreat and were finally cornered in an ancient fortress. The assault raged for 2 weeks, and in that time Jarrin was hit by shrapnel and blaster fire. Despite Jonus' best efforts Jarrin died in his arms.
Days later, the militia was beginning their final push. Jonus was wounded and nearly delirious from lack of sleep. His medical supplies were long gone and he was down to his last blaster pack. He stood at his post and waited for the inevitable end, He didn't believe his eyes a Republic Dreadnought suddenly dropped out of the sky, parked over the fortress and started pounding the militia forces with its turbolasers, while it's fighters tore into the militia air forces. As the first shuttle from the Dreadnought touched down in the compound, bringing reinforcements and relief, the comms soldier reported that the local government had surrendered and were in Republic custody.
When Jonus woke up at a Republic med center several days later, there was a card left by the Republic Intelligence agent with a comm number. There was nothing left for him on his homeworld, so he took the agent up on the job offer on a new unit the Republic was putting together.
Save as many as you can. Jonus learned that the best way for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. He will save as many as he can through his medical training, but his experiences in the war have show that sometimes a blaster can be just as effective when pointed at the offending party. He wants to save those directly harmed and spare as many as he can from the experiences he's had.
Intelligence: Jonus knows that while battles are won with blasters, wars are won with information. Jonus will do anything he can to gain valuable intel and pass it on to his contact in Republic Intelligence.
Jonus' gear, apart from the brand new medical kit, has the look of being well worn but extremely well cared for. Most of it was what he had when he left his homeworld, which was basically just the clothes and gear on his back.
I'll see if I can find a picture for Jonus.
