Background
Ahn ol Jnah lived in a remote village in the Mydasos lowlands. The Phydolons were a subjugate species of the CIS. They are a relatively low-technology, decentralized society and could not defend themselves other than hiding or moving into the mountains. Various corporate interests used Mydasos, the CIS war efforts even staged there for a while. The worst of it were the raids. Apparently, the fungal rhizome (Orucytes) in the Agarans' blood was the source of their passive resilience, and various medical conglomerates were interested in "harvesting" this tissue for biomedical research. So, they sponsored raids on rural, more primitive groups of Phydolon, and hundreds were taken.
Most never returned. Those that did were surgically mutilated and almost without sapience. These Orucytes is the key also to the Phydolon people's community, language, and sentience. Once that was removed, what made the Phydolon a person...just wasn't there. Jnah was among the many who were taken, along with the rest of his family. As the process that was being carried out on his parents, he was left in a cage to hear them wail as their personhood was stripped from them. Jnah snapped allowed himself to unleash his fear and loss upon everyone involved. Sentient and droid were all rent and brutalized in his wake, He didn't even bother saving their parents; they were already gone.
He ran. He sneaked aboard a ship that was soon to depart and weren't discovered for a week. Knowing none of the common trade languages or basic, the freight-workers took pity on Jnah. The crew allowed him to live, rent free, while attempting to prepare him for the next step on his journey. Unfortunately, the charity was short-lived. The crew fabricated some work for him to do in the wilderness on a planet along their route, and Jnah was abandoned with the bare necessities on a new planet. He understand that they were a burden and would've gladly left if they had asked, but he just appreciates they didn't return him Phydolon home to be dissected.
Motivation
Pursuit: Happiness: Jnah has had his world ripped from them. He doesn't feel safe going home to Mydasos, and simultaneously feels an immense amount of social isolation while yearning for simple surroundings. It's a balance of needs that will be hard to satisfy.
Morality
Strength: Empathy: Jnah comes from a society of tightly-knit empaths, constantly in passive communication with one another. That security and togetherness was taken for granted while on Mydasos. Now he constantly look to better understand the emotions and mental states of his comrades.
Weakness: Mercilessness: Jnah has witnessed his fair share of brutality, and he has learned from it. Sometimes, what is required is swift, unflinching violence. Half-measures in survival will lead to an early death.
Obligation (10) Responsibility: Jnah is quick to form bonds, and he feels an incredible sense of duty to protect those who he values. That group may be small, but he will fight to the death to preserve it. Jnah will throw caution to the wind to help those lucky few.
Description
Jnah is a lithe, deceptively well-muscled Phydolon. His skin is a deep orange-red tint, with dark-black hair. He has a primal energy about him, carrying himself timidly when unsure of his position, but moves with a certainty when angered or filled with violent purpose. Eye contact was never a function of Phydolon society due to an Orucyte colony's ability to passively communicate without it. So, given he has lost that capability in the broader galaxy, he stares. Unnervingly so.
Jnah speaks in low, calm but unsure language, clipped and slow due to his newness to basic. He's curious about others, and pays close attention to mannerism and facial expressions. When angered, he hums with a kind of deep "boom," like an internal hyperventilation. Generally that will only be heard by his enemies, as it is subtle, and they aren't likely to hear it for long.
