Background

Aanu grew up on a relatively urban world. Her father was a scholar; her mother worked in law enforcement. Her early life was mostly filled with learning, and, while her aptitude for the material was only average, she set upon it with great determination. However, growing Imperial encroachment led to both of her parents being pushed out of their jobs—her mother was designated a "security risk," and her father only narrowly avoided being taken in for sedition. With her parents blacklisted, they had to take menial jobs to make ends meet—and managed to save up enough to get Aanu a ticket off-planet. Nearly an adult at that point, Aanu bounced around the Outer Rim for a while, eventually stumbling upon an old ruin.

The ruin had belonged to a sect of Jedi who had split off from the main Order, all long-dead. Little enough of their teachings remained, but exposure to the ruined relics brought Aanu's latent Force-sensitivity into bloom. She recorded what she could and left again, this time with a purpose: find more information.

Her investigations have resulted in a couple minor successes, and one major; one of the oldest ruins she visited contained an intact lightsaber, still lying near its last owner's bones. Aanu hardly knows how to use it, but she keeps it as close as she can. It was after that discovery that she finally took on her tattoos—the outline of two long lines, trailing smoke across her cheeks. (Anything that burned so bright must leave a trace: that is the message.)

Mostly, her time has been spent honing her own abilities—both in the Force and not.

Motivation

Ambition: Discovery

Aanu has dedicated herself, since that first discovery, to seeking out a greater understanding of the Force and its many traditions. She isn't particularly interested in trying to live up to the legacy of the Jedi—as far as she's concerned, they're just one of the bigger pieces in a far larger puzzle. It's that puzzle she wants to solve—though even she isn't sure what solving the puzzle would mean, or entail. The uncertainty only makes it more enticing.

Morality

Emotional Strength/Weakness: Curiosity/Obsession

Morality: 50

Description

Aanu is tall and gaunt, with narrow features and pale brown skin. She has narrow gray eyes. Her tattoos are steel-gray, the outlines of two vertical lines that stretch from just below each eye to end just below the corners of her mouth. Two smoke-like lines curl from around the middle of each, flowing up to meet her high cheekbones. Her horns are sharp, more so than average. Maybe she sharpens them—she'd certainly like people to think so.

Her clothes tend to be of the "whatever she could find" category, a disheveled mishmash of styles from different worlds and cultures. Most of her garments have seen the wilderness, and are worse off for it. She likes gloves, and wears them often—they're the only form of adornment Aanu keeps for long, and tend to be in better condition than the rest of her clothing.

Other Notes

Duty: Restoration

Under the Empire's authority, most knowledge of the Force has been lost or destroyed. What hasn't been erased has been buried in mountains of propaganda. But everything broken leaves shards behind. Aanu sees it as her Duty to pick up the pieces, rebuilding the knowledge that the Empire has destroyed.
