Upgrade Effect

Description
The user spends [Force] to stress the mind of one living target he is engaged with, inflicting 1 strain. The user may activate this multiple times, increasing the strain inflicted by one each time.
Upgrade Effect
Control To gain the ability to alter the thoughts and emotions of a living target with whom he is engaged, the user makes an opposed Discipline check against the target as part of the pool to activate the power. The user must spend [Force] and he must succeed on the check to force the target to adopt an emotional state such as fear, friendliness, or hatred, or to believe something untrue ("these are not the droids you are looking for”). The effect lasts for roughly five minutes, or one round in combat. If the Force user has the ability to affect multiple minds with this power (such as with the Magnitude upgrade), the Discipline check either must be opposed by the mind with the highest ranks in Discipline, or its difficulty must be set statically based on the number of minds (at the GM ’s discretion).

Move
Description
The user may spend [Force] to move one object of silhouette 0 that is within short range up to his maximum range. The default maximum range is short range. The user may not activate this multiple times.
Upgrade Effect
Strength Spend [Force Pip] to increase silhouette able to be targeted equal to Strength upgrades purchased.
Range Spend [Force] to increase the maximum range at which the user can move objects by a number of range bands equal to the number of Range upgrades purchased. The user may activate this multiple times, increasing the range by this number each time. However, remember the user must still spend Force points to activate the power’s actual effects.
Control (Hurl) The user gains the ability to move objects fast enough so as to be both difficult to dodge and capable of inflicting damage. Resulting impacts deal damage to both the target and the object being moved. The user makes a Force power check and rolls a ranged attack as part of the pool. The attack’s difficulty is equal to the silhouette of the object being thrown instead of the normal difficulty for ranged attacks, and only succeeds if the user can also spend enough 3 to move the object. Silhouette 0 objects deal 5 damage, while other objects deal damage equal to ten times their silhouette. The number of targets affected by a single object is up to the GM, but in general, a single object should only affect a single target, unless the object is particularly large. If the player wants to use multiple objects to hit multiple targets, he may do so by using the rules for hitting multiple targets with the Auto-fire quality. This attack follows all the rules for ranged attacks, including ranged defense and aiming.

Background

- How did you discover your force sensitivity?
-- Gaatento (Gat) was a steward of nature in his hometown (a mining colony on Regusa) and learned that he is in tune with the world around him, as long as he isn't flying. With that understanding, he learned how to ground himself in the force and influence people and things around him.

- Describe a moment where you fell prey to your moral weakness or experienced a tragedy/horror that still haunts you.
-- Gaatento had created a stink when one of the few "green" areas in his township was being developed for strip-mining, and his father tried to coerce him into standing down, and Gattento mentally dominated him with the force, not allowing his Father's pragmatism and politicking to get in the way of his principles. This shamed Gaatento, leading him to leave his home planet some months later.

- How did you come to join the NJO?
-- Gaatento was wayward for a number of years until he came across a older Jedi emissary by chance, and through conversation he understood the unparalleled opportunity that the Jedi Order could offer him.

- Name one NPC your character has a strong connection with. This could be a family member, a friend, a work contact, or a bitter rival.
-- His estranged family is a significant source of shame to him. His community knows of him as a black sheep, and his family definitely see him as a disappointment for not being a "team player." He would at some point like reconnect with his father especially and apologize, and hopefully show them what he is becoming.

-- His father, Baatun Dora, is the affluent Coral Sourcing magnate on the Toydarian moon of Rugosa. He taught Gaatento how to scrimshaw, how to carve, how to find resources in the wild, and just generally the beauty of the natural world. As his father's business grew, so did his flexibility of principles, specifically concerning the sanctity of the natural world. This eventually would lead to the breakdown of their relationship.

- Describe a moment in your life where you demonstrated your moral strength despite adversity.
-- The incident that precipitated his falling out with his family was an environmental sit-in, when he single-handedly delayed the development of one of the few green areas in his hometown, complete with felled tree barricades, turning soil to sinkholes, and just generally barring would-be miners from the area.

Motivation

Pursuit: Knowledge - Gaatento has a deep yearning to know the secrets of life and how to foster it, especially that of the more simple, non-sentient variety.

Morality

Morality 50. (63 Without Mechanical Conflict)

Strength: Certainty - Gaatento is as strong personality as one can find. Personable, Strong-Willed, and crafty. He knows what he wants and how to go about getting it. He has a clarity of purpose in most situations.

Weakness: Impatience - While he knows what he wants, Gaatento is often too wrapped up in the goal to understand that he isn't in control in the flow of time. This means that often he misdirects his energy in frustration when his progress is slowed.

Obligation: Disgraced (10) - Gaatento left his homeworld, having been the scion of a moderately powerful industrialist family, in shame and disgrace. He attempted to dominate his father with the force to preserve a natural environment he cared for, and afterwards they couldn't trust him, nor could he himself.

Duty: Teaching (2) - Gaatento has taken an active interest in the growth of his fellow acolytes. Whether it is philosophy, growth in the force, or other contemplative matters, Gaatento is like to introduce challenges to preconceptions and guide those around him.

Breakthroughs:

- Minor Breakthrough (5xp) - Who Ambushes a Jedi - Gaatento learned that many of his compatriots deserved his patience and attention, and he should trust them more. Specifically, Talia who he once looked down upon as childish, and Na'Tina, who he disregarded as ineffectual or just too opaque to engage with.

- Minor Breakthrough (5xp) - Project Green Thumb: Ruins - Gaatento actually is starting to see the results of his efforts. He's instilled a lot of interest among the others, nurturing the group to be leaders among other padawans. Even without him, the greenhouse will be completed.

- Major Breakthrough (10xp) - Perseverance and drive allowed Gaatento the confidence to parley with an evil-aligned force ghost, allow the ghost to connect with him. Also, the greenhouse is finished! The order can now support their own medical costs!
