Background

Ivan Edo was loyal to the Empire. He had never questioned the Imperial propaganda and had little stomach for politics. Besides, he was more than appreciative of the full scholarship that the Imperial Navy provided for his studies at the University of Byblos, where he studied Metallurgy and Energy Physics. Upon completion, per the terms of his scholarship, Ivan enlisted in the Navy to serve in an anti-piracy frigate The Far Orbit. He served initially as a Junior Scientific Officer, reporting to Chief Scientific Officer Hamal Thorne. Officer Thorne was a more experienced, but less capable scientific officer, who poorly managed the laboratory in which Ivan worked. At the time, the crew was led by Captain Vocis Kenit. However, when one of Kenit's most trusted men, Commander Dhas Vedij, orchestrated a mutiny, Ivan was either smart enough or cowardly enough to not stick out his neck. Unlike Thorne or the former Captain, Ivan survived the mutiny and was summarily promoted.

Now, Officer Edo serves his new crew loyally, thankful for the resources he has been provided and dedicated to ensuring that he does not end up like Thorne or Kenit.

Motivation

Ivan has always been fascinated by energy manipulation, and particularly the hypermatter ignition process. Although hypermatter has been used to expedite interstellar travel for a millennia, Ivan suspects that it could have other uses. He is dedicated to studying the excitation of hypermatter and to the possibility of using hypermatter as a fuel source for other projects.

Ivan is obsessive about the pursuit of knowledge, and is often irritated when more pressing issues impede his research.

Duties

Debt: Ivan's studies were paid in full by the Imperial Navy. As a requirement of his scholarship he had to serve 10 years in the Navy. He would be quite surprised if his time serving the traitorous crew of Captain Vedij will count in that aim. He can only hope that his failure to fulfill his duty will not result in his assets being frozen or his debt being passed on to the ever-vigilant Banking Clan.

Description

Ivan wears a standard Imperial Officer Scientific Officer's uniform (in yellow), which has an apron built in the front. He is a medium height and build, with red hair that is always cut short per Imperial protocol. He remains clean shaven at all times.

He has several small burns along his hands and arms from minor chemical accidents. He has a prosthetic fingernail on his right ring finger due to an hypermatter burn that left him unable to regrow the nail.
