Opportunity Knocks:
Ranza's life was never particularly rough, as their home on Glee Anselm was rather peaceful and even far from any Anselmi conflicts. Their family was well-to-do enough that their upbringing was comfortable, but Ranza always felt there was more to see. Scholarships, some lucky and some well-earned, placed them at a good Chandrilan medical school where they got their first taste of a new world.

Still, moving from one comfortable life to another while hearing all about the galaxy's strife made Ranza self-reflect. Instead of some clinic position that they would view naively as dead-end, they decided that their skills could be more of a help where they would matter most, and to really learn and grow they would need to be out in the thick of it. They didn't stop to think about whether or not they were personally ready for that.

Cause: Charity
The needs of others, especially the weak and the sick, or the oppressed, or the downtrodden, will always be more important to Ranza than their own needs. Their current life situation may be one that generates stress like a star makes light but they left their comforts for chaos with a reason and they're sticking to it.

Perhaps, now that they've seen what the galaxy can really be like, they also feel guilt about getting to live well while others suffer.

Oath: Help those who need it however you can
Though this promise has no backing by law or institution, Ranza has made a general promise to use their skills and knowledge in helping people who need it. They have only recently been introduced to the idea that, sometimes, those who need help are not people one might actually want to help.

Because of their focus on healing and assisting others, they prefer non-lethality where they can manage if they have to fight. If possible, Ranza would rather fix up an attacker and send them away than finish the job.

They're aware that it's not always possible to do something for someone but they feel like they have to try whenever it's possible.

Below average height, medium build, teal skin with a darker green birthmark on the right side of the face that trails on to one head tendril. Usually keeps the tendrils tied back to make sure none would dangle on to a patient. Maintains themself well, but wears inexpensive clothing and generally has a tired expression.
