Background
1. How did you discover your Force Sensitivity? From a very young age, Xan-Ryl could sense what he would later know as The Force flowing around and through him. He didn’t know it was something that others couldn’t sense/feel until he asked his mother about it.
2. Describe a moment where you fell prey to your moral weakness or experienced a tragedy/horror that still haunts you. Xan-Ryl’s father, Cyszon, worked as a mercenary and was often offworld. He was a strict man who enforced his teachings with ‘physical’ lessons. His mother bore the brunt of it, but when he was old enough, Xan-Ryl became a target as well. His father left for a job one day and never returned. The first emotion he felt when he learned of his father’s death was happiness. That has bothered him ever since.
3. How did you come to join the NJO?
His home planet of Thyrsus is in the Inner Rim and is part of the Echani System. His mother, Dal-sak was a craftsperson who kept a modest pottery shop. When word of the Jedi reestablishing a school reached her, she pulled together all of her resources and favors to get her son transport to Yavin. She knew that he was ‘gifted’ and could sense The Force. Xan-Ryl was sad to leave his mother, but knew that she was right and this was the best place for him to be.
4. Name one NPC your character has a strong connection with. This could be a family member, a friend, a work contact, or a bitter rival.
His mother is the only person he’s ever had a strong relationship with. His father was abusive, he had no other family and Xan-Ryl never made friends easily.

Xan-Ryl’s father was a mercenary and instilled physical and mental toughness into his son from an early age. Xan never excelled at the physical drills his father called for, preferring quiet study and meditation. One day, his father concocted an elaborate set of trials to test his mental and physical resolve. Xan was meant to fail and then be punished, but he used every ounce of his discipline and resilience to get through it. His father was surprised and offered grudging praise for the accomplishment. Xan-Ryl was disappointed that the praise made him feel happy.
