Background
Born on Mirial a few years prior to the beginning of the Clone Wars - lived through the brutal conquest of the planet by Clone forces.
Lorso family used to be high-ranking in Czerka Corp, but lost everything after the company signed on with the Empire thanks to being non-human and having Separatist links.
Joined the Mirial Security Force as a member of the Retrieval and Apprehension Unit (essentially US Marshals).
Conscripted into the crew of the Kuma to replace losses in the Marine complement two years ago.
Promoted to Acting Commander of the Marines recently after the previous Commander caught an unfortunate case of Superheated Plasma poisoning.
Semi-Aware force user - understands abilities through the prism of Mirialan spiritualism (guidance by fate, etc.) Believes the Kuma is where fate needs her to be, though she's not sure why.
Motivation
CIS Loyalist - 'The Rim will rise again' etc. Very quiet about this, natch.
Animosity to both Empire and Republic - different faces of the same Core Worlds oppression and racism. Also quiet about this.
Strong belief in Law and Order - saw the chaos after the war, not gonna let that happen again if she can stop it. A lot less quiet about this.

5 Duty - Personnel: Kelly is currently focused on both keeping the crew (particularly her Marines) safe and orderly, and identifying both more disgruntled crew members as potential allies in defection and any Imperial true believers who could cause a problem with that.

Description
Appearance: Basically looks like the Mirialan example Jedi Guardian (Force and Destiny Core, p.72), only with a Stun Baton and Riot Shield instead of a lightsaber, and generally rather scruffier - seems to have an allergy to ironing. Speaks with a soft Southern American accent. Would be wearing a cowboy hat if she could get away with it.
Demeanor: Quiet and soft spoken, especially around loyal Imperials. Despite being both an alien and one of the tallest members of the crew, has a tendency to fade into the background and not be noticed if she doesn't want to be/(Indistinguishable and Sleight of Mind).
