Background
Born on Carida in the Colonies after the Galactic Concordance had brought an end to the Galactic Civil War, Arvel had an ordinary upbringing in a military family. Generations of his ancestors had served the Empire or the Old Republic before it. His family were never true believers in Palpatine’s New Order, but rather the sort that put on the uniform regardless of the leaders in charge.
Upon finishing his schooling Arvel managed to earn one of the few open slots in the (very small) New Republic Army. However, with the destruction of Hosnian Prime, and with it, the New Republic, Arvel found himself in an army without a nation. Like most of his unit, Arvel deserted. Unlike his confreres, Arvel resolved to make his way to General Leia Organa’s Resistance movement. But the Force had other plans…
