Background
Locke grew up in the typical Polis Massan home. His parents being geneticists trying to find proof of any relationship between their own species and the original inhabitants of Polis Massa, the extinct Eellayin.
Locke was did not find an interest in studying Xenology but found he was more interested in artifacts and exploration. After primary school on Polis, Locke took the atypical rout to continue his studies by going off world to University of Bar'leth on the planet Bar'leth a core world, to study Lore and the outer rim. What he did not plan on getting an education in was the underworld.
Living his entire life on Polis Locke didn't get a lot of exposure to different races or people who have different motivations then the good of society. Society was a lot smaller where he came from. While the University did not have a lot of criminal elements, Lockes pension to explore quickly brought him outside of the University to the local "College town" where he was taken in by the local gang. This was not a hardcore gang, but they worked for bigger gangs and everyone works for someone.
The gang thought it was a fun idea to bring along a naive Polis on jobs. Mostly the gang broke into places and found rare items to sell on the black market. While Locke knew objectively what he was doing was wrong, it was also exhilarating. This is what he wanted to do after graduation, not stealing from people, but the research to find something old and valuable and then hunting it down and bringing it out. Locke's naivety was not long living though. Aph, one of the gang members taught Locke the in's and out's of how the underworld worked. Eventually he figured out he was really just brought along to be the fall guy if needed.
Leaving the Gang was actually anti-climatic. It was graduation time, and time for him to get off world. Locke had gotten his Doctorate in Archaeology and some extra field work learning that laws and archaeology might not always be on the same side of the fence. It was time for Doctor Locke to explore the world.

Description
Polis Massans are a small-bodied species standing an average of 1.4 meters tall. They are descended from a cetacean ancestor, as evidenced by smooth, gray skin covering a thin layer of insulating blubber. With the exception of a pair of expressionless black eyes, Polis Massans possess no facial features at all. Despite this, they are incredibly communicative in their use of gestures, signs, and body language. Though the majority of Polis Massans lack vocal chords, they are able to communicate with others using a simple form of telepathy.
