Point Blank Rank 2 The character adds one damage per rank of Point Blank to one hit of successful Ranged (Heavy) or Ranged (Light) attacks made while at short range or engaged.
Side Step Rank 1 Once per round on the character’s turn, the character may perform a Side Step maneuver to try to avoid incoming ranged attacks. He then suffers a number of strain no greater than his ranks in Side Step. Until the start of the character’s next turn, upgrade the difficulty of all ranged combat checks targeting the character a number of times equal to the strain suffered by the character.
Second Wind Rank 1 Once per encounter, the character may use a Second Wind incidental to recover an amount of strain equal to his ranks in Second Wind.
Strong Arm Rank 1 Characters with the Strong Arm talent treat thrown weapons as if they had one step greater range, to a maximum of medium range.
Command Rank 1 Gain a Bonus Die (Blue Die) when making Leadership checks for other checks to inspire, lead, or rally an audience per rank of Command. Inspired targets also add a Blue Die per rank to the subsequent Discipline checks they make over the twenty-four hours. This does not increase with additional ranks of Command.

Background

Josef grew up on the planet cardia, known for their blessed military academies. Josef's father taught him discipline and the way of the warrior, being the only son he had to carry on the Stern legacy as a renowned warrior but at the cost of being beaten and treated poorly losing his mother at an early age didn't help either. Eventually when he was old enough he was tired of his father and left him, he became a common criminal living off the streets as best he could before making it big and settling with a team. Eventually he found his way in the case of the law and ended up working for the law rather then against it to pay off his debts.

Motivation

Work off his criminal debt and get on his own way to earning money and renown.

Obligations

Criminal - Having left his father he became a criminal selling himself and his weapon to the highest bidder that could afford him. This meant doing good deeds like bounty hunter but also darker more sinister jobs like torture and assassination.

Betrayal - He betrayed his father and his cultural way. As since he's never found honor or love in anything being taught only a warriors way and being alone for so long has left him jaded.
