Phineas should have had by every measure a perfect life. His family was rich and of noble birth, they were living in the wealthy areas of Coruscant when he was born. Growing up during the early days of the Empire, he wanted nothing more than to become an Imperial Officer. He and his family had his whole life planned out for him and it was pre-ordained.
He was still a child when the Empire was born, and grew up accepting the propaganda about ‘peace and safety’, become a “true believer” in the new Galactic Empire. It was the optimistic time in the galaxy, years before the Empire disrupted the senate, before the planet wide purges, and was when non-humans were still accepted into the Imperial Academy.
His Family was involved with the ambassadorial relations with Pandora and it's system planets. Their position gave them both nobility and influence. It wasn’t until after his issue with the Empire that they also came to realize the true evil of the Galactic Empire.
Joining the academy as soon as he was able, he studied and trained hard. Giving himself fully to his goal he didn't have time to mind the rumors of the atrocities the Empire ‘supposedly’ committed, or to the growing resistance to its rule. Excelling at everything he tried he was at the top of his class in most areas of training, both physical and mental.
By the end of his training we was 20 years old and fully indoctrinated into the Empire. He had made deep friendships and truly felt as though he was doing a noble work. Thinking back now it seems as though this part of his life was so long ago, yet he knows it has been only a few years.
He had strong melee and physical skills, but his testing scores and aptitude was in technical areas. Training in logistics and material support he felt secure in achieving his life goal. As a ‘side interest’ he took specific training in hand to hand combat.
It was right before graduation when things changed dramatically. While he and two of his comrades were participating in a traditional graduation prank on their squad leader, he was separated while making his escape. Trying to find his way back he quite literally ran into a high inquisitor. He immediately bowed low and gave a sincere and appropriate apology. The inquisitor was about to brush off his innocent mistake when their eyes met and something happened that set his fate forever.
As the inquisitor looked deep into Phineas, he felt as though his thoughts were being invaded, his as if his mind was being probed. Instinctively he reacted to push out the intrusion. This is when a look of surprise came upon the inquisitor’s face; and this is when things changed.
He was immediately taken to an interrogation room, as asked many questions, most of which he had no understanding or ability to answer. But this is was not enough. Soon he was strapped down, given many mind affecting drugs and tortured. Many times the inquisitor came and again forced his mind upon him.
He doesn’t remember much of the rest of the interrogation. The last time he was in contact with his Mother she states that hey lost contact with him for several weeks. He only remembers that he tried to honesty answer every question given to him. But some were very odd questions, about the Jedi, the Force, his ability to use the Force, questions about his ability to use the Force. All these things he had never thought of or every found himself remotely considering. Soon the questions shifted to questions of loyalty, morality and actions of good and evil. He remembers the questioning seemed to be dragging him down a very dark path, and he knew that if he gave in and went down that road, it would forever dominate his future. He choose light and to push away the creeping cloud of fear and darkness.
Apparently his resistance meant he was no longer useful to the Empire. He has vague memories of being told he would be sent to a place called the Citadel to be worked to death. Now weak and drugged he has incomplete memories of being put on a transport to leave Coruscant. The next memory he has is of nearly suffocating, floating in the freezing cold compartment with the many dead and dying prisoners around him. Later he learned that his transport ran into hyperspace disturbance, was thrown out of hyperspace into a meteor field. Damaged and leaking air he was the only one found alive when rescued. It took weeks for him to get his memory and strength back. While officially declared dead, he recovered in the estate of what would turn out to be a rebel sympathizer.
Now years later Phineas is a much different man. Nearly broken by the experience he is much more humble. His world was in shambles, he was tortured and rejected by the very organization he had pinned his future on. However over the next few years his life would again gain new meaning and purpose. Putting aside the details of the inquisition to the back of his mind he slowly has became a valued member of the rebellion, using the very skills he was trained in by the Empire. He often thought of what might have given him that inner strength to survive the prolonged interrogation. Still not having direct knowledge that he is a Force user, he now considers himself a soldier in a new army with a new goal. Bring down the evil that is the Empire in any form it manifests.
Redemption: The Player Character seeks to atone for past sins or mistakes by serving in the Alliance.
