Background

Anise grew up on the ancestral home planet of the Clawdite, Zolan. As a Clawdite, she saw many examples of how her people were treated as second class citizens, as the native Zolanders considered the Clawdites as lesser or inferior to the native population. As such, she had a tendancy to hide her true form as often as she could, taking the guise of Human and Non-Human traders or diplomats sent by the Republic and Trade Federation. She learned how to copy the mannerisms of those whose appearance she stole, whiuch let her pass more fluidly and allowed her access to places Clawdites had previously been shut out of. However, she learned that she was limited as to what species she could shape-shift into. She was taught by her parents some of the older techniques, like the manipulation of the amount of water held in her body. Such added mass, supplied by an external medical pump, would allow her to grow things like Twi'lek lekku or Togruta montrals.

As she grew older, she saw even more atrocities visited upon her people by the native Zolanders. Clawdites were arrested for simple offenses such as loitering, and were given disproportionately harsh sentences for such small crimes. However, it wasn't until she saw a Clawdite woman killed by Zolander peacekeepers that she knew she couldn't stay on Zolan. It was only a matter of time before such atrocities would be visited on her family and friends. She began taking odd jobs, looking to earn enough credits to buy her family passage of Zolan and settle on another planet in the Mid Rim, like Ruusan or Eriadu. One of those jobs led her to the Zolan chapter of the Bounty Hunter's Guild.

Initially, the idea of being a Bounty Hunter held little interest for Anise. However, she was able to meet a fellow Clawdite Bounty Hunter by the name of Zam Wesell. Zam was an inspiration for Anise, as the woman initially appeared to Anise as a blonde human woman. When the two were able to share a moment in private, Zam dropped her guise, which in turn led Anise to drop her own. Zam told Anise that no one, save a select few, knew of her secret. Not even the Guild. And that, if Anise was truly interested in joining the Guild, she'd sponser the young woman's application.

Anise took Zam up on the offer, swearing her fealty to the guild. Most of her time on Zolan was spent as a glorified Skip Tracer. She was good at her job, and had saved enough credits to upgrade her weapons at least twice. She found that most bounties she hunted calmed down considerably when painted by the targeting laser of her "Precision X" Marksman Rifle. However, as good as she was at her job, she was unaware of the reputation she had also built in the underground community. She'd been threatened and attacked at least three times while hunting bounties, though each attempt was ultimately fruitless.

However, when her family was taken hostage by an unknown gang of misfits, she knew she'd bitten off more than she could chew. The gang's leader wanted a ransom of 50,000 credits, or he'd kill her family. While Anise had done well as a Bounty Hunter, she hadn't done THAT well, and tried to bargain for more time to raise the funds she'd need. She even lined up a bounty, and got approval from the guild, that would have paid off the ransom and left enough for her and her family to escape Zolan. She had just lined up the bounty in her sight, when she saw a flicker of motion behind her target. In an instant, she trained her sights, and held her finger just millimeters away from the firing stud. A human woman with dark red hair was holding her mother by the neck. Anise watched in horror as the woman stabbed her mother through the torso with a vibroblade, and tossed her body aside. Anger bubbling inside, she fired at the woman who had just killed her mother, ensuring that the woman would never hurt another person ever again.

Within hours, she received a set of data cards at the Guild office. Each one showing another family member of hers being murdered gruesomely, with hysterical laughter playing in the background. Anise swore vengeance, vowing to do whatever she needed in order to find those people who'd harmed her family. Her search on Zolan was fruitless. No one knew who the woman was, nor did anyone recognize the voices laughing at her family's deaths. Taking on the guise of the woman she'd killed, Anise packed her belongings and fled Zolan, searching for the one's who murdered her family. She used her contacts within the Guild to try and find the people she was hunting. Which, ultimately, led her to Kala'uun, and a Twi'lek Trader named Koh'shak.

Motivation

Love - Anise's family was the center of her universe. She did everything she could to protect them. She failed. She is motivated by that love of family to seek out those who caused them harm, vowing to make them pay.

Obligations

Oath - Anise has sworn an Oath to the Bounty Hunter's Guild, pledging fealty to them. She understands that she may be called upon at any time to bring in a particular bounty, and that failure to do so would mean revocation of her Bounty Hunter's license.

Description

To almost everyone Anise meets, she looks like a slender human female with dark red hair and green eyes. Most humanoids would consider her to be fairly attractive, and have tried to vie for her attention.

In private, Anise reverts back to her natural form, looking vastly different. She has green, scaly skin, and her facial features are angular and jagged. She would not be as appealing to most humanoids in her native Clawdite form.
