Background
Once a promising young Jedi, Dolorin Trast began his journey as Caser Midorra. Given to the Jedi Order on Ossus when he was a child, the youngling grew up never knowing who his mother or father were. Growing up surrounded by his fellow younglings, Caser made sure to protect the makeshift family he had found; standing up to bullies, sharing meals, and comforting his new family in times of need.
When the time finally came, the young Midorra managed to pass his Initiate Trials and progressed to the rank of Padawan, selected by the Kel Dor master Zaro Esa, a Jedi Guardian who saw much potential in the new padawan. Following his master across the galaxy, Caser learned what he could of the Jedi’s role in the galaxy as peacekeepers, studying the philosophy of the Jedi and their history, learning of famous guardians like Exar Kun, Cin Drallig, and Anakin Skywalker.
One fateful day, the Jedi Council received word that a group of Imperial extremists were planning on sabotaging the New Republic weapon factories on Balmorra, hoping to reignite a war between the Empire and the Republic. To stop the saboteurs, the Council dispatched Master Zaro, Padawan Midorra, and the Iktotchi Jedi Master Telrath Vor and his Togruta apprentice, Vinda Taas, a good friend of Caser from their days as younglings.
Everything that could have gone wrong on Balmorra did. Outnumbered and outgunned, the group fought for their lives against an ambush set by the saboteurs. In a desperate fight for his life, Caser found himself giving into his emotions and drawing upon the dark side to protect Vinda from attacks. When the battle ended, Caser emerged from his trance to see that he had struck down his own friend.
Upon his return to Ossus, Caser was immediately imprisoned, pending a trial in front of the Jedi Council. Over the course of the trial, the Council claimed that the padawan had called upon the dark side, citing the murder of another Jedi by his hands as evidence. While Master Vor readily testified against him, Caser noted the absence of his own master from the proceedings, falling deeper into rage and despair. He did not defend his actions against the accusations of the Jedi and was promptly exiled from the Jedi Order, stripped of his lightsaber and his Jedi apparel.
Depressed and with nowhere to go, Caser found himself stowing away aboard a freighter headed for the metropolis world of Nar Shadda. In the middle of the trip, he was discovered by the captain, a Devaronian named Hilt Memon. Instead of tossing the young man out the airlock, he took the fugitive under his wing, teaching him everything he knew about smuggling and life as a criminal. While reluctant at first, Caser slowly began to embrace the new lifestyle, taking on the name of Dolorin Trast to help him hide from the eyes of the Jedi and to put the past behind him.
On his own now, Dolorin still harbors a grudge against the Jedi, wanting nothing to do with an untrustworthy order of sorcerers.
