Background

Zed came fresh from the SoroSuub factory and into the law enforcement service many years before the rise of the Galactic Empire. He was programmed for general policing and was given additional programming to hunt and capture rogue droids. That’s all he remembers from his activation date, just that one day. He knows that he served in law enforcement for many years. He has the scars, wear, and tear on his frame but he has decided that somewhere along the way he was modified for maintenance duty. He doesn't know how many times he was sold or captured. His new owner must have had his memory wiped. His basic programming remains but he only remembers the last few months in addition to the 1st day, his Activation Day.
About 90 standard days ago Zed awoke to find a restraining bolt attached to his chest and something blocking the memory files where his daily life should be stored. He met his new owner, a Trandoshan technician named Rorkk. Rorkk told him that he was going to be in charge and provide security for the ship, “The Hunter”. He was handed a stun stick and patched into the ships comms system via his internal commlink. Zed’s shift was 20 hours long in the slave cells and spent 4 hours at his charging and maintenance station. While he was charging one of the other droids watched the slave cells.

Zed had much time on his hands and while he was alone in the slave cells he would run self diagnostic routines and subroutines to try and connect with his past memories. His progress was slow and while he did successfully patch into his total base program, Droid capture and recovery, his daily files were blocked. Zed had reason to believe that the restraining bolt had something to do with it as well as the memory wipe.
It was during one of his 4 hour charging cycles that The Hunter was attacked. Zed woke to find the ship took much damage, the Captain was taken and the ship's crew were wounded or dead. He plugged into The Hunter’s data drive to access the ship’s log and vid files to see what exactly happened.

FRONTIER JUSTICE - 10

Description

The 501-Z series stands at a height of nearly 1.9 meters tall and are covered in a shock-resistant durasteel armor, making them a formidable and dangerous opponent for any criminals who came upon them. They series are intelligent and also gained a reputation of having the uncanny ability to sense what a criminal's next move might be, often resulting in accurate predictions concerning the whereabouts of their quarry of what their target would be next.

All 501-Z units in the SoroSuub Corporation's product line were programmed to respond to threats with humane and non-lethal force only. Their programming also included a subroutine which allowed it to change tactics when confronted with a dangerous challenge. The 501-Z personality module was advanced enough to rival that of even the most sophisticated protocol droids in the galaxy. A 501-Z could easily communicate with other beings including their fellow police officers, whether sentient or droid. Due to their advanced design, such droids are also deployed as detectives and investigators. 501-Zs also earned a reputation among their colleagues and employees of being determined and optimistic to complete an assignment though some found the droid's optimism quite annoying.

Other Notes

Feature - Droids do not need to eat, sleep, or breath, and are unaffected by vacuum, toxins, and poisons.
Inorganic - Droids do not gain benefits from bacta, stimpacks, or Medicine checks. They must be repaired with repair patches and Mechanics checks.
Cybernetics - Droids have a cybernetics implant cap of 6.
