Background

Kimbo Bex didn't mean to end up on Tatooine. Truth is, he never intended to leave Phatrong at all, at least not for anything more than a short trip to Adarlon. It was supposed to be a simple run, helping out a friend in need. Bormu said they would pick up some medical supplies and make a quick delivery. Easy as a Twi'lek escort. The medical supplies turned out to be illegal narcotics being trafficked through the holdings of a local corrupt politician by a small-time crime syndicate known as The Iron Eye.

Somewhere along the way things went sideways. A firefight broke out and Kimbo watched his friend mowed down before him. That was the first time Kimbo ever picked up a gun, and it turned out he was something of a natural. Thanks to his shooting, the rest of the crew got away with the drugs. But rather than give the Kyuzo his cut, they gave him a choice: A quick death by blaster fire, or a slow death under the heat of the Tatooine suns.

Kimbo chose Tatooine.

His lifepod landed in the middle of the Jundland Wastes with two liters of water and enough rations for a day or two, and he wandered. He managed to avoid two roving groups of Tusken Raiders and their hunting massiffs, but in the end the smugglers who stranded him on the desert world were right: the heat took him down.

When Kimbo woke, he found himself under the care of a hermit, a weathered, middle-aged human male who spoke little during their time together. Once the Kyuzo recovered, the hermit delivered him to a nearby settlement, a small co-op of moisture farmers and other settlers called Dannar's Claim. Placed under the care of local marshal Stavan Duke, Kimbo was soon deputized and began to help maintain order in the harsh climate of Tatooine.

It took two years before The Iron Eye found him, and then only by chance. During a quick supply run into Anchorhead, Kimbo caught the eye of one of the organization's scouts. In a coordinated strike on Dannar's Claim, they nearly captured their target. Only the heroics and selfless sacrifice of Stavan, his friend and mentor, and the concentrated efforts of the people of the Claim saved him.

Now he's on the run, driven by guilt and the need for vengeance, edging toward the day when he can deliver justice to Stavan's killers.

Motivation

Drive: Guilt.

Kimbo feels the guilt not only of the death of his mentor, Stavan, but of his friend, Jugo, the young Kyuzo who got him into this mess in the first place. His guilt, coupled with being on the run from The Red Hand, could very well lead him further down the proverbial rabbit hole into a life he never intended. He balances out his guilt by doing good deeds whenever he can - random acts of kindness, so to speak - and treating others as if their lives were precious.

Creed: Return the Favor

When Kimbo was first dumped on Tatooine, strangers gave him a chance. First was the old hermit who saved him from certain death in the Jundland Wastes. Then it was Stavan Duke, who took the Kyuzo in and trained him, eventually deputizing him to help keep the peace in the region surrounding Dannar's Claim. Doing good for others - helping out when he can - just makes sense to Kimbo. It's not just a matter of assuaging his guilt, but about paying it forward.

Kimbo wants nothing more than vengeance for the death of his friend and mentor, Stavan, at the hands of the criminals making up The Iron Eye.

Zindoran Tueli, a corrupt low-level government official on Adarlon, has taken out a non-guild bounty on Kimbo after those in his "crew" - the very people who stranded him on Tatooine - spread the rumor that he got away with all of the narcotics.

Description

Kimbo Bex is tall and thin, like many of his kind, standing at 1.86 meters in height and weighing just under 80 kilograms. His skin is blue-green. He is of the phenotype with compound eyes, yellow and piercing, which assist in his perception. He generally wears a longcoat, old and faded, with threadbare patches sewn on each shoulder denoting rank in some defunct law enforcement organization. The coat belonged to Stavan, his friend and mentor, and he calls it the Marshal's Mantle. Under the coat are found loose-fitting clothes of the type one might expect on a desert world. A wide-brimmed hat rests on his head, just as worn and ancient as his coat.

Bex is a wary individual, comfortable in a crowd but always vigilant. He isn't much of a “people person” and his interpersonal skills could use some work. In truth, he keeps to himself a lot, coming off as a bit of a loner, mostly because he knows he's a bit socially awkward.
