Background

Melliana Talderion grew up knowing two things: that duty to a cause meant everything and that her father's cause was her cause.

Choosing her place in the world had never been an option. Her Father, Sol, persisted in rising up the ranks and would not have anything less form his eldest child. So he pushed her every step of the way. That's what it meant to be a part of Coruscant's elite for Melliana. To devote oneself to whatever cause those above you choose, because duty mattered above all else.

So, Melliana joined the Academy upon completing her basic education. She was fast tracked into capital ship command like her father and expected to rise even above him. Still, every step in the way Melliana couldn't help consider that this was to much. Living just high enough up the social ladder to see the sky and the ground below altered her perspective just enough to question.

So, in a bold move, Melliana inquired about transfering to be a pilot. After a series of succesful tests she was deemed a natural. Cool, calm, and under control became Melliana's hallmarks in the cockpit. A fighter jockey capable of handling any mission with a confidence few could match. She wasn't loud or boisterous, though many of her maneuvers were completely outrageous, she simply acted with precision born of raw talent.

It was the first time she felt true joy. Out there pulling hard turns and being just better than everyone else, it was remarkable, and she couldn't want anything more.

Her parents grew frustrated with her new directions, but so long as Melliana was willing to consider returning to Capital Command then they left her alone. "Remember" her father would say "The Empire is order and our family has always served the Empire- you will do the same". She new of the horrors the Empire would commit in a vague sense and her "education" insisted that the Rebellion was as bad if not worse.

In the end, the Empire meant order against the chaos of the Rebellion and the corruption of the Old Republic. She flew and she fought because one side was as good as any other.

Ryloth changed everything.

She had flown at least a dozen sorties, half of them combat, but the sheer destructive brutality of Ryloth was the only firsthand experience of the horrors the Empire could wrought.

When they gave the order to bomb the city around the rebel base to slag she nearly vomited in her helmet. The words of her father filled her mind "Duty is everything".

So she pulled the trigger.

She lost track of the number of runs they did on the target area, lost track of the number of runs they did outside the target area. Nothing was the same after that.

Melliana punched her Flight Commander in the face afterwards. It was her only action in protest but it was enough. She was immediately grounded from flight operations. The only thing that saved her from a quick court martial was the influence of her father.

Instead, Melliana was transferred to Bridge staff aboard the NBF Templar under Captain Felix Jou'oda.

Captain Felix of the Templar had a very different way of running his ship. He expected and even encouraged his crew to think and question commands when they were suspect. It didn't take long for him to begin work on breaking Melliana out of her self imposed obedience. When it came time for the Captain to begin recruiting, she was one of the few officers to know first. He demanded nothing in that meaning, merely asked. So she made a choice.

After their defection, it became quite clear that their new unit was short of pilots. Captain Felix reactivated her as Indigo Five. Now Melliana just hopes these obnoxious rebel pilots have skill to match their boasting.

Regardless, her new motto; Keep calm, keep up, or sit back and watch.

Motivation

After years of being unable to determine her own destiny under the yoke of the Empire, Melliana is determined to provide a place of freedom and free thinking in the galaxy.

Duties

Air Superiority (5): After the events of Ryloth, Melliana believes that having control of the skies above your ground forces is the only way to win a war. Destroying enemy fighters and focusing on air support for bombing and strafing runs is her goal in any engagement.

Description

Age: 25
Gender: Female

Melliana is a relatively short, lithe human woman with dirty blonde hair and caucasian skin. Generally tied in a ponytail, her hair is slightly longer than strictly necessary: a result of her time as a bridge officer and a subtle indulgence on her part. Her icy blue eyes are calculating and tend to be the only window to a fiery soul beneath a professional exterior.

Lately she's taken to wearing a thicker leather coat and pants in lou of her Imperial uniform. All dark colors and greys.
