Background

Bran Tillov was a man who "had it all."

Coming from a prestigous military family, part of the second-class, non-force sensitive aristocracy that made up the majority of the Sith Empire's elite , it was only natural that Bran should enter into one of the elite services. At the age of 16, he was accepted into the elite Sith Naval Academy where he established himself as a superior cadet. Displaying a strong aptitude as a somewhat unconventional fighter pilot, Bran was quikly noticed by his superiors, graduating in the top 10% of his class.

This fed into his career, where he managed to achieve the rank of Lieutenant within a year; three years upon graduating, he had already made Lieutenant Commander.

But such success did not come without risk - good fortune, breeding, and achievement always attract the envy and jealousy of others. This is doubly true in the Sith Empire, known for the cutthroat nature of its politics and people. Bran had made a few enemies and rivals during his time in the military.

In particular, a fellow cadet at the academy, Tolvar Niemi, intensely disliked Bran. From meaner circumstances and with a chip on his shoulder, he sought to out-do and insult Bran at any opportunity he could. In class, he'd point out Bran's mistakes. In trials, he'd sabotage Bran's efforts. For his part, Bran ignored it. Given his background and effortless rise, he thought of such things as mere annoyances.

Mere annoyances, that was, until the incident at Vicondor, a key junction linking the mid-rim to the "Unknown Regions" from which the Sith had invaded. On a "routine" escort mission for a Sith envoy to the sector, the envoy's diplomatic ship blew up under suspicious circumstances while under attack by a paltry force of pirates that were quickly brushed aside. The ship should not have taken any damage, but it was nonetheless lost with all hands onboard.

Bran suspected foul play, but that didn't matter - Bran was blamed by his superiors, court-martialed, stripped of his rank, and subsequently disowned by his own family. Failure always came with hard consequences in the Empire. Bran was too high-born to be executed and thus was banished to the wild regions of the galaxy only with what he could carry on his own back.

Bereft of support and bewildered by his circumstances, Bran pursued the only employment his skills offered him outside the military: crime. He became a freelancer smuggler, offering his services and piloting skills to the highest bidder, criminal or otherwise. With no resources, he had to start somewhere; and the lucrative business offered opportunity to get a ship and move back up in society. If that meant helping the Republic whenever they came calling, so be it. If that meant working with the Hutts, he could deal with a few slugs.

More importantly, his work gave him the networks and connections he needed to look into the causes behind the incident which was his downfall, eventually allowing him to pinpoint Tolvar's influence over the course of events.

Expected, perhaps, but nonetheless this discovery has led to a smoldering anger in Bran's heart. Revenge is all-consuming within him, even if it does't show on the surface. Still, he takes things one at a time. Get a ship now, kill Tolvar later. Revenge is a dish best served cold after all.

Description

If it’s a pilot you need, Bran’s all you need. Be it getting your dubious cargo to its destination or dealing with pesky local authorities, this smuggle of unknown origins is the best in the business. Well, his business at least. He completed the Kessel run in 15 parsecs after all! Just don’t ask him where learned to fly; you’re more likely to get a blaster bolt than an answer.

With his messy brown hair, suave, but pragmatic attire, and holstered gun at his side, Bran displays all the characteristics of a man accustomed to living on the edge. But don’t let that fool you. This human of deceptively average-size certainly punches above his weight, be it in the bar, gym, and most certainly in the cockpit! Haha!

Nonetheless, he is a man of taste. He enjoys his women as he enjoys his wine: bold and full of character, like the best Corellian Shiraz. Although some might say he is too refined for his occupation, he would tell you that baser men are destined for baser things. His ambitions are far greater; and it just so happens that he has the personality to match them. Just what those ambitions are remain a mystery. For now, he could do with a ship of his own - that would be lovely!

Still, despite his predilection for luxury, Bran can can at times seem cold and overly austere, suggesting there is more to this man than fine dining and wine. No matter. When it comes to work, he is the consummate professional. Just make sure you pay him the credits he’s owed.
