Background

Towards the tail end of the republic, Xaxu had enrolled in his local academy to train to be a pilot in the Grand Navy of the Republic. It was less than a year later before the republic was replaced by the Galactic Empire, with Xaxu having flown only a few live missions in that time. Barely 6 months later, Xaxu found himself constantly under harassment from the new administration, who had a distinct xenophobic outlook on life. In the first 3 months, Xaxu found himself moved onto basic duties with no flight work, and it took them less than a year to have Xaxu court martialed on trumped up charges.

Before he could be sentenced Xaxu fled the academy in to the city outskirts, taking cover in the slums. It wasn't long before Xaxu was forced to join up with one of the gangs, partially out of protection and partially for some form of food and housing. When the gang realised what Xaxu used to do, they quickly put him to work manning heavy weapon turrets or flying fighters, ranging from inter-gang warfare, stealing from traders and innocent people, or fighting with the Empire.

Xaxu worked for several years for the Tariko Ul'raki gang before he was captured in a raid gone wrong on an Imperial convoy. He would have been killed or sold as a slave had it not been for Rebel forces in the area who had pounced on the infighting between pirates and Empire. Striking a blow to the Empire by destroying one of their light cruisers and capturing a freighter worth of supplies.

Taking his chance, Xaxu pleaded to be allowed to join, to make amends for his past, and to attempt to bring some form of freedom to the persecuted people of the galaxy.
