Background

Kallu learnt at an early age that in a real fight, no-one wins - one side just gets hurt a bit less than the other side. While he was still a boy, his father died in a local gang war, and his mother died fighting off an invasion of his homeworld.

Jaltar Corain, the leader of his father's old gang took him in after his parents died, when he had no-where else to turn. Though he remains grateful for all that was done for him, he could not countenance the brutal ruthlessness with which they operated, and as a young man he left to make his own way in the world.

Using his experience moving through the criminal underworld, and his imposing demeanour, Kallu travelled around, making a living as an enforcer for various criminals, and sometimes as a debt collector for legitimate businesses and governments. Jobs he did well enough, though his aversion to violence stopped him from truly excelling at them.

Then, Kallu got a call from Jaltar Corain. Though Kallu was aware the Corains were having trouble with the Fallen Star crime syndicate, Kallu had so far steered clear, knowing from bitter experience how bloody these things could get. But now Jaltar had a favour to ask. Humouring Kallu's pacifism, even if he did not fully understand it, Jaltar had found a way of enlisting Kallu's aid in the fight against Fallen Star that would not compromise his principles.

There was a bounty out for a particularly brutal Fallen Star hitman, Cratt Stusso, and Jaltar suggested Kallu help bring him to justice. Keenly feeling the debt he owed the Corains for taking him in when his parents died, Kallu did not feel able to say no.

So Kallu put his feelers out, and swiftly found a bounty hunting crew looking for Cratt - Travis Reiner's crew. Saying nothing about his ulterior motive, Kallu signed on to work for Reiner, and with his underworld connections, was able to help locate and capture him.

With the job done, Kallu had intended to take his share of the bounty, make his excuses and leave. But he found himself staying on for one more job. And then one more again, and soon enough he found that he liked the crew. He liked the work. He respected Travis Reiner, and he believed in the work that they were doing, making the galaxy a little safer, by putting away dangerous criminals.

Kallu was upset by the loss of the Nerona Sunrise, fearing it would mean the end of this bounty hunting crew he had become genuinely fond of. When Travis and Rosena came back with the Hutt's proposal, he willingly put his name to it. Being in debt to a criminal organisation is nothing new to Kallu.

Motivation

Peace.
Both of Kallu's parents were on the winning side, but both of them died anyway, so Kallu is very aware of how destructive wars and conflicts can be, for all involved, and he's been left with an enduring aversion to war and violence

Obligations

15 - Favour. Though Kallu's gang let him leave freely, and with goodwill on both sides, they have not forgotten how much they did for him when he was growing up, and they have every expectation that, should they need it, he wouldn't hesitate to do the same for them.

Description

Tall and heavy-set, his face a mess of scars and tattoos, with large horns protuding from his forehead, Kallu is an imposing figure. He relies on this tough guy image to avoid fights, intimidating his opponents into backing down where possible
