Background
Tal was born to parents on Bardotta. His family ran a small trading company based in the colonies with frequent trade into the mid-rim sectors, predominantly out to Bespin, and the occasional run into the Deep Core. His family owned 6 trading ships, 4 large bulking frieghters, and 2 smaller nimble ships for running higher value cargo. Tal was raised from young on these ships, and was taught the basic of maintainence of these huge ships from the tender age of 6. His absorption of knowledge led to his parents enrolling him at the best university they could afford, spending the money they had saved to pay off the multiple loans on their star ships. It was only several very good contracts with the republic that allowed Vicklad Enterprise to stay afloat.
By the time Tal came out of university with the highest possible accreditation, the republic was no more, and the Empire stood in it's place. Slowly, Vicklad Enterprise's lost contract after contract, with the new sector administration treating the non-humans as scum. Finally with 2 years of Tal trying to save his family business alongside his parents, Vicklad Enterprise crumbled. Between being frozen out of government contracts, loan repayments increasing, and damage to vessels, Vickland Enterprise could no longer keep up with their payments. Ships were seized and sold off, his father sold off to slave in an Empire factory, and his mother forced to relocate.
Burying his anger, Tal took varous engineering jobs throughout the Colonies and mid-rim, working in a large variety of jobs from engine manufacturing to civilian structure building, though by far his favourite job was ammuniation design and production. It was Tal's small attempt at revenge at the Empire that ruined his family at a munition production facility, where Tal was in charge of generating new production lines for the designs they were provided. On a small scale, Tal slowly put small imperfections in the production lines, managing to effect nearly 30% of the output of his lines. These small imperfections meant the munitions were either duds or had reduced explosive power. Tal quickly left once news came down of ISB inspections into the facility, citing family reasons for returning home.
Tal slowly made his way through the galaxy taking odd-jobs to keep himself moving, fixing ships and buildings at any planet he passed. Slowly his anger built at the Empire as he tried and failed again and again to find his parents. it was this seething anger that built up that led him to be easily seduced into joining the rebellion.
Motivation
Tal's big 3 motivations are the belief in liberty, xeno rights, and the ambition to rebuild his families business.
