Background
1. Keyan was beset by horrible nightmares and sounds of screaming in his head that he couldn't escape. It wasn't until he was visited by a Jedi healer named Amarant, who identified his nightmares as a manifestation of Force Sensitivity, that he was able to find peace.
2. After being healed, Keyan returned home to find his parents proud of his new "gift". His sister however, was not so pleased, and out of jealousy or anger tried to strangle him in his sleep. Keyan was barely able to fight her off, and he quickly grabbed a few basic things and ran as far and fast as he could, straight out of the house.
3. Amarant, the healer, learned what had happened to Keyan and went out to find him. She promised to prove to Keyan that the galaxy is not so unforgiving. He agreed to journey with her for a while, under the conditions that he always had a secure room to sleep in. During some diplomatic missions in the company of Amarant and other good-hearted folk of the New Jedi Order, he learned to cooperate with others, until he no longer felt the need to sleep with a blaster at his side.
4. Amarant Tendoora herself is a Jedi Consular. She believes there is good in the hearts of all people, and hopes to redeem those who have fallen to the Dark Side.
From the teachings of Amarant, a part of Keyan wonders if he can redeem his sister, or if some people are truly destined to be cruel.
