Background

The moment he stepped on stage of the Outer Rim’s Got Talent—a popular reality holoshow which searches for best hidden gems in the Outer Rim—the audience snickered and threw slurs his way. Hutts do not, after all, fit any standard of beauty and are often viewed as vile creatures. Even the popular judges on the show openly questioned if Changa actually thought a Hutt would actually win the competition.

But they hadn’t heard him sing, and sing he did. He sang Classic Huttese opera first to stunned silenced, then to wild applause. Week after week he continued to surprise the audience. Singing pop ballads in Basic, and classic Alderaanian Jazz standards.

As luck would have it Changa won ORGT, but what the audience and judges didn’t know is that he had done so at great personal risk. His rise on the mediocre reality holoshow began to catch the attention of his powerful Hutt clan. Changa was supposed to have “taken a dive” on the final stage. It was part of a backroom deal his clan had set up to secure lucrative mining rights. Needless to say, his clan was not to keen on having their interests so publicly rebuked. Changa was not welcomed back to his homeworld, he was also not invited to the much larger, much more successful “Galaxy’s Got Talent”, as had been the custom for many years. A slight orchestrated by his clan no doubt.
