Background

R5-H8 was an astromech droid for the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. The droid was always a bit... cranky, due to a few glitches in its programming - which, combined with its designation, caused the Clones it served with to name it 'Hate'.

During a battle with the Separatists, the Y-Wing Hate was assigned to was shot down on a remote world, and while Hate itself was mostly fine, its pilot had been killed in the crash.

Hate waited three months for a rescue that never came, before it had to shut itself down to keep from draining its power cells. Its last thoughts before powering down were of actual hate - hate towards the Separatists for shooting it down, and hate towards the Republic for seemingly abandoning it.

(In a way, Hate was right. Rescue crews found the wreck at a distance, decided No One Could Survive That, and moved on)

20 years later, Rebel Salvage teams hit the battlefield Hate had been shot down in, looking for any equipment they could refurbish, and found Hate's chassis. It had mostly rusted over, its joints had seized up, and its power cells were dangerously low, but its memory core and central processors were fine. Rebel techs swapped out the joints, gave it new armor plating, recharged the power cells, and Hate soon saw the galaxy again for the first time in 20 years.

By that time, the hate the droid had been feeling had spread to include just about everything in the galaxy - the only things Hate didn't hate were the crews that found it, the techs that repaired it, and the advances in weapons technology that had happened while it 'slept'. Of course, it still had a large amount of hate for the Separatists and the Republic, and while the Separatists were mostly gone now, the Empire's status as the successor state of the Republic gave Hate a perfect target for most of his hate.

Hate threw all its abilities into supporting the Rebellion, intending to show the Empire the full extent of its hatred and rage. Be it in a starfighter's astromech socket or plugged into a turret emplacement, Hate is more than willing to blast away at any Imperials it goes up against.

Motivation

Quest/Vengeance - The Empire is the successor state for the Galactic Republic, which Hate believes abandoned it during the Clone Wars. It has transferred its hate from the Republic to the Empire, and so the Imperials will all suffer its wrath.

Duties

Combat Victory (80 Points) - Hate is focused on one thing and one thing only - the total destruction of all Imperial assets in its line of fire.

Contribution Rank: 0

Description

R5-H8 has the standard R5 Astromech frame, though his recent armor re-plating has given him a red paint job.
