Background

Anler was born on Coruscant to a single mother. She had complications during the birth and for the first few months Anler required constant medical attention. His sensitivity to the Force was discovered at a young age and at the age of two, his mother gave him up to the Jedi Order.

Anler was a good student. He was never the most gifted, but willful and capable of learning what he wanted to learn well enough. When the time came for him to travel to Ilum and look for a crystal he didn't hesitate. Soon after, he was chosen as the Padawan learner of Jedi Master Umathon Wuum, a venerable Ithorian Jedi who was an renowned diplomat who it was rumored had never needed to ignite his lightsaber except in training.

Under Master Wuum's tutelage, Anler learned the value of using a soft touch and diplomacy over aggressive negotiations. For almost a year they traveled the Outer Rim, settling trade disputes and negotiating peace treaties in local conflicts. By chance they were back on Coruscant when the Jedi Council assembled every able bodied Jedi available and headed to Geonosis. Master Wuum was one of the hundreds of Jedi who fought in the great arena on Geonosis. And like so many noble knights, he fell in battle that day.

Anler took his master's death very hard. As he got used to the idea of his master being no more, he was conflicted on how to proceed. Would he follow his master's example and work for a diplomatic solution to problems, or would he follow a different path, seeing how his master fell due to his lack of experience in combat.

With so many Jedi Knights dead in one battle, there simply were no masters available for several Padawans who had lost their masters on Geonosis. After some time at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the young Padawan was summoned by Jedi Master Mace Windu. The Jedi Master informed Anler that he was being sent to Kamino as the first in an experimental program designed to allow for better cooperation between Jedi and clone troopers by integrating a Padawan with a squad of troopers during the last leg of their training. He also told him that while he was on Kamino, Jedi Master Shaak Ti would be his superior and continue his training as much as her time would permit.

Motivation

Cause: Galactic Peace

Although he would never say so out loud, feeling it is not his place as a Padawan, Anler feels like the Jedi have lost their way, fighting as generals in a war against people who want to leave the Republic. He thinks the better course of action would have been to allow the Separatist Alliance to leave the Republic peacefully and build a relationship to the Separatists as equals. With the Clone Wars raging on, he hopes both sides will want to end it soon by negotiating a peace agreement. Until that happens, he is determined to do his duty to the best of his abilities.

Anler loves new experiences and learning new skills. He is also fascinated by visiting new places, learning new things and meeting new and interesting people.

His former master cautioned Anler about leaping before he looked, but the young Padawan has not been able to take his master's advice to heart. In his enthusiasm he sometimes forgets to think about the danger to him self and others.

As a future commander of clone troops in a war that seems to have no end in sight, Anler feels it is his duty to keep the troops under his command as safe as they can be. He is opposed to the callous disregard for clone lives he thinks some commanders display, treating the troopers the same as he would birth-borne troopers.

Description

Anler is fairly tall and strong for his seventeen years, standing at 182 cm with broad shoulders and well-developed muscles that are usually hidden under his tunic and robes. He has a mop of black hair on his head with one long braid down the left side of his face to signify his status as a Padawan.

He tends to wear traditional beige tunic and pants, good synth-leather boots and a voluminous brown robe when out and about. His belt holds numerous pouches and his most prized possession, the lightsaber he crafted with his own hand after his trip to Ilum.
