Greased Palms 1 AoR Core: Pg 148/Dawn of Rebellion: Pg 113 Before making a social interaction check, the character may perform a Greased Palms maneuver and spend up to 50 credits per rank of Greased Palms. For every 50 credits spent, the character upgrades the ability of the skill check once. How the money accomplishes this can be up to the player and GM, but could take the form of bribes, buying gifts, or even purchasing information that gives the character an advantage in the ensuing interaction.

Background

Batoo'kaan is an old ex-pirate who hasn't been doing much for some many years, which in turn has let his skills degrade pretty badly as opposed to when he was in his peak years as a moderately known pirate.

Long ago his crew had become known not from their feats, but for their strange gimmick in their exploits; this crew had a knack for non-lethal hijacking shenanigans in the mid and outer cores that would often see the crew waking up again on a nearby planet with a stripped ship and the good cargo stolen. Drugs, partying, arguments about Jedi & Sith, and tens of thousands of credits of alcohol were the way of life, leading down horrible paths and a struggled existance as the crew tried to keep things together despite their lax way of life.

However as the Civil War began (and the crew never heard of it beginning), they unknowningly attacked a strange transport filled with white armoured goons that resulted in a decimating lose, which would eventually see him separated from the few survivors and exiled on a planet.

That planet would just so happen to hold a base that would eventually become Batoo'kaan's secret hideaway before becoming the Rebellion's domain, and white armoured goons being white armoured goons makes no difference to this Ryn. Years passed and a new Empire rose, as Batoo'kaan kept himself alive as a hermet and slowly edged away from peak performance, keeping himself alive as someone living in the shadows and stealing nothing more than small amounts of food to keep himself alive. Playing to people's sympathies of being an old fellow helps a lot with getting away with his small time thefts, yet didn't always keep him from getting arrested...

Batoo'kaan may be old & far from his peak as a pirate, he may had been yammered & whispered about by those in the shadowports, but by god will this Ryn make those who he thought had killed his crew suffer to the max and supply those who are warring against them with whatever he can steal, coerce or trick people into giving the Rebellion for their fight. Not like anyone in the Rebellion is going to point out those white armoured goons aren't the same white armoured goons from Eras passed.

Motivation

Quest for Vengeance: Kill 'Em All! ...Somehow? Batoo'kaan prefers a more peaceful method, a more indirect method; Supply the Arms, Kill the Stormies. Personally Batoo'kaan's combat skills have regressed to near useless, but he's still the old pirate he once was, or at least still knows the tricks of the trade in the world of spies and smugglers. These skills will be the main way he can get Vengeance against the Empire.

Connections to the Underworld: Old connections from the shadowports that made up the mid & outer rims of the galaxy, although most have changed or no longer work as Black Market contacts, there are still those who will help the old Ryn, for one reason or another. Maybe they have information on any survivors of Batoo'kaan's old crew?

Duties

Resource Acquisition: Aims to gain resources for the Rebellion base, by piracy methods; coercing, thieving, trickery and deception. Also aims to gain resources from old Underworld contacts, although a lot has changed in the Underworld since he was a pirate and lost his crew.

Description

Batoo'kaan is a male Ryn, aged 89 and 1.32m tall, making him older and shorter than most.
Slender, hunched and severe wrinkles ripple over Batoo'kaan's aged, tanned & baked skin. With his unkempt white hair being so wild to the point that it's impossible to figure out whether he really has a long white beard or if it's just his hair. His tail has a huge scar running down the tail until it bushes out in a puff of white fur. His snow white eyes seem glassy, as if it was like they're finally becoming blind from cataracts, yet maybe it's just another trick...?

The concealing robes he wears seem to be from ancient times or a world not near anywhere else, yet in spite of the uniqueness these dull deserty robes exhibit they're just as good at their job of hiding the wearer as every other concealing robe.
