Background

Brotengala grew up on the Western continent of Malastare, before the fall of the Republic, when podracing was still in its brightest days. He aspired to one day become one of the great racers, like the famed Sebulba or Nando Okis. He got his chops on the Malastare 100, and even secured 4 points toward the Amateur Podracing Circuit with a seventh place finish at the Aquilaris Classic. But that dream fell apart when the Empire banned podracing outright, simply because a few bantha-brained humans thought they had the reflexes to race along with the Dug.

Brodie left Malastare in search of others who needed his skills. He went coreward, seeking the famed swoop races of Corellia, but the races didn't pay the bills, even for a hotshot. He eventually fell in with a group of planet-side spice smugglers on Onderon who were in need of drivers to evade Imperial patrols. However, it didn't take long to discover that it wasn't spice they were smuggling, but weapons! Brodie and the other drivers had been duped into working for an insurgent cell known as the Partisans, led by a fearsome warrior named Saw Gerrara. Brodie hadn't been one for the weak words of the Rebel Alliance, but Saw was something different. Saw made Brodie realize that defeating the Empire would mean independence for many worlds. It would mean that neither the Empire, nor the Republic, nor any other force would be able to meddle in the internal matters of Malastare. Brodie worked for Gerrara for several years as a Flashspeeder driver, first on Onderon, and then chased rimward to Jedha. Brodie liked Gerrara's tactics, even as they grew increasingly brutal.

Fortune must have favored Brodie, because Saw sent him on a mission to run stolen kyber out of Jedha City. When Brodie returned, he discovered that the city had been leveled, and the Partisan's base had been destroyed. Knowing that he had to strike back at the Empire, he joined the only resistance left: the Rebel Alliance. Now, for the past two years, Brodie has become a T-47 pilot in the rebel forces, hoping for the chance to avenge Gerrara.

Brodie is worried about the anti-Dug sentiment in the Rebellion, which tends to be pushed by the Gran. He has no problem with Gran in general, though he has a great deal of animosity toward the Gran leaders on Malastare. He is certainly excited to prove his value to the Alliance in the hopes that it might sway future decisions about Malastare.

Motivation

Thrillseeking (in racing) and Vengeance (against the Empire for the death of Saw and the elimination of the Partisans)

Brodie has a dream of racing in the Galactic Podracing Circuit, though he knows the dream is fading quickly. Podracing is exceedingly scarce in the galaxy, and Brodie's reflexes are a step behind the elite level racers. When he is off duty, Brodie can typically be found enjoying the Alliance's flight simulators. Though they have few vehicles that can match the speed and maneuverability of a pod, he can still get his thrills from the modules for the SU-42s, as well as the T-47s that the Alliance employs on Hoth.

Duties

Resource Acquisition (10)

Brodie is interested in acquiring resources - particularly speeders, snubfighters, and swoops - for the alliance. He has assisted General Riken in purchasing a set of snowspeeders from a Dug manufacturer for use at the Hoth Echo Base.

Description

Species: Dug
Gender: Male
Height: 1.04 meters
Mass: 36 kg
Eye Color: orange
Skin Color: yellow/brown and green
Attire: Basic rebel orange flight suit, toboggan and goggles. He wears fingerless combat gloves on his hands (which he uses as feet), and has pair of brass knuckles that he slips onto his toes if necessary.

Brodie is a T-47 pilot on Hoth. The airspeeders aren't his favorite ride, but they can at least outmaneuver most standard Imperial airspeeders. Retnar, a Klatoonian gunner, operates the laser cannon and the harpoon gun.

Other Notes

Brodie is a Dug, not a Duros.
