Background
Koyi has always been enslaved to one thing or another. Her family has traditionally been owned by Hutt subsidiaries from birth. However, they saw their chance for freedom during the height of the Clone Wars conflict on Ryloth. While some split off to fight with Cham Syndullah, many chose instead to try their luck getting away from Hutt space. This would ultimately be proven to be their downfall, and they were instead enslaved again and scattered across Hutt Space. Koyi was lucky to be with her eldest sibling, as both of them had skills useful for colonizing outer territories (Koyi being a doctor, and her sister with some skill in weaponry).

Motivation

Koyi is extremely close with her family, despite the slavery of most of them. While she was young on Ryloth she took great pains to know each and every one of her family members that she could. The sixth child of eight, she is also extremely close to her nearer siblings. After the enslavement of her family, she has had a hard time finding them, and has lost a number of her more extended family, and eldest sibling.

Putting fire to the flame of Koyi's hatred for Hutts and slavery, she made her swear an oath to find their family and free them, and to free all Twi'lek (and all slaves, but primarily that) she comes across. Koyi takes this very seriously, and has made an effort to align herself with other freedom fighters.
