Huupa Fuss felt ice cold sweat run down his back. This visit to Nar Shadda awas not turning out the way he had envisioned it. A quick visit to take care of his father‘s funeral and to claim his inheritance and then back home to Sullust to enlist as a pilot in the SoroSuub planetary defense force. That was all he had been planning to do in on the Smuggler's Moon. Things were turning out quite differently.
Standing next to the massive hutt, whispering in what must have been his ear, was the Duros enforcer Fuss had traveled with to Nar shaddaa. When the Duros had payed him a visit on Sullust he had thought it was a kind gesture of respect from Ziro the Hutt, an occasional business partner of his father, to send his personal servant to inform Fuss that his father had died in a freak speeder accident and to bring him to Nar Shaddaa. The notion seemed particularly silly to Fuss as he heard the hutt laughing as his majordomo wrote up the contract and passed the datapad to him for a signature.
To be fair the Duros enforcer did tell him that his father had recently lost his famous ship, the Intrepid Venture. He also kindly informed him that he had just inherited his father's newly purchased YT-2400 Light Freighter with the same name. What he failed to bring up in that particular conversation was the fact that the debt his father had been in to Ziro the Hutt was also part of his inheritance.
Well. The SoroSuub planetary defense force would just have to get by without him. A pity, after acing the tests and looking forward to piloting a fast fighter he was now looking at a future trying to get out of the impossibly large shadow of his father, the legendary Hoopa Fuss. His father had made him swear not to follow in his footsteps. Too bad that seemed to be the only option.
At least his father had made sure he got his start early by leaving him his newly purchased ship. A few days shy of his 19th birthday and Fuss was already the captain of his own ship. Now all he needed was to make sure the payments to Ziro the Hutt were made on time, and for that he needed to get a decent crew. But first he needed to get some important cargo to Coruscant for Ziro without any imperial entanglements. And fast. He got the feeling Ziro the Hutt was not a man to keep waiting for his payments.
Later, when he got to the Intrepid Venture and entered the captain's quarters, he found his father's famous pair of pistols in a gunbelt hanging from his father's favorite chair. A datapad on the desk had only a single file. It read: "Use them well my son. I'm sorry."
Huupa Fuss grew up without a father, but in a warren full of Sullustan who loved him and tried to do right by him. His father, the notorious Hoopa Fuss, had a rebellious spirit for a Sullustan. After siring his only son he left his warren to pursue a career in the outer rim underworld. Huupa didn’t see his father until he was 18 years old, rebellious and annoying for everyone in his warren.
When his father came to visit for the first time in 18 years he told Huupa of his adventures. He told stories about his time collecting bounties on criminals for a living until he could afford a ship, the first of many to carry the name the Intrepid Venture. Since then he had made his living as a “free trader” on the Rim.
Huupa was, of course, fascinated by his father’s stories, so when he planned to leave in a few short days Huupa was devastated. He managed to smuggle himself onto his father’s ship. When discovered he pleaded with his father to take him along. Hoopa reluctantly agreed, and in the months that followed tried his best to make up for not being there for Huupa all those years.
Huupa worked on the ship for a few months. His father taught him to pilot a ship, shoot a blaster, brawl in canteenas and navigate the stars, but failed miserably as he tried to teach his son how to pick up loose women in canteenas, another one of older Fuss’ talents.
After almost six months on his father’s ship Hoopa got shot and almost killed when a deal went wrong. He never told his son what happened. After recovering he told his son that he wanted something better for him than the life of the smuggler, and returned to Sullust. He refused to take his son with him when he left Sullust for the last time, making him promise not to follow in his footsteps, to do something better with his life than his father had with his.
After raging in his warren for a few weeks, inconsolable, Huupa decided to use what he learned and join the SoroSub planetary defense force as a pilot. He had finished the tests with flying colors and was about to sign on for a five-year term when news of his father passing on Nar Shadda reached him with a blue-skinned Duros who claimed to work for Ziro the Hutt.
Cause: Protect the Weak
Fuss is a young and somewhat idealistic Sullustan who believes strongly in a black-and-white version of good and evil.
Debt to Zero the Hutt (10+10 for extra starting cash)
Fuss has been forced to take over his father's debt to Zero, incurred when his father had to suddenly replace his ship after falling on hard times financially.
Huupa Fuss is tall and broad for a Sullustan at 175 cm and 62 kg, and just a few days shy of his 19th birthday. His face is attractive for a Sullustan, tan and broad with thick lips and dewflaps. After taking up a carreer as a smuggler he has sensibly decided to wear the thickest armor he could afford with his limited funds and wears his fathers matched set of SoroSuub X-30 Lancer Precision Blast Pistols on a gunbelt around his waist.
