Background
While Firewall earned his nickname with his aptitude for computers when he was young, it was his tactical acumen and leadership abilities that earned him command of a Clone Commando squad, rather than a supporting role. He is a man of few words to those who haven't earned his respect, but loyal to those who have.
Motivation
People Are Counting on Me: As the sergeant of his pod, Firewall is more than aware that the lives of his brothers are depending on the orders he gives; and beyond that, his role as a commando helps to support the main army.
