As an initiative to help assist in the ever growing disaster areas across the galaxy during the Clone Wars, an eccentric Alderanian billionaire pumped money into building a fleet of disaster relief vehicles. The culmination of this research was the ThB-1, a modular freighter designed for quick response and utility. While effective it was expensive resulting in only a few ever being produced.

In response the ThB-2 was a far cheaper, easier to produce, star-ship. Designed for the mass market for use as a freighter, marketing its felixible modular pod system. Despite its fame across the outer rim, it lacked the speed of the ThB-1, and its cramped interior made long haul trips far too uncomfortable for its price. This, along with its mediocre armaments making the ship a juicy target for pirates, caused the ThB-2 to quickly fade into obscurity.

With the advent of the Galactic Civil War, many of these unique freighter have found their way into Rebel and Paramilitary hands. Favored due to their effectiveness of moving cargo, vehicles and star-fighters quickly and easily, their niche abilities have finally found a good use.
