The Vigilant class craft was a patrol boat scale vessel employed by the Jedi Order when a mission required a small team of Jedi knights to travel together. The craft was more economical than commandeering a republic cruiser, but also more convenient than sending each knight in a separate fighter, as the Vigilant class ship had a crew lounge that could double as a conference/briefing room.

The craft was built for speed over combat and so it was lightly armed and armoured. That said in the hands of a skilled Jedi pilot, the ship was more than capable of holding up against all but the worst threats.
