Kodo Potrellan is a young Nautolan engineer from the planet (placeholder). Gifted with a natural talent for machines and technology, Kodo spent his early years tinkering with salvaged droids and starship components. Despite his father's hopes for both Kodo and his older brother, Talik, to become engineers for the Galactic Empire, fate had different plans.

Tragedy struck when Talik's starfighter was shot down during a perilous Imperial mission. Devastated and burdened with guilt, Kodo blamed himself for his brother's fate. This loss strained his relationship with his father, and seeking a fresh start, Kodo fled to an outer rim planet.

In this lawless environment, Kodo became entangled with the criminal underworld, joining a local gang and utilizing his engineering skills to modify stolen starships and weapons. Early on during his run with the gang, while working on a landspeeder, a cable broke causing the landspeeder to land on his left leg. He was forced to amputate from the below the knee-down. He made a scrap replacement with spare parts laying apart his shop. Unbeknownst to him, Kodo possessed a latent connection to the Force, granting him subtle guidance, insights, and heightened intuition. However, he remained oblivious to the Force's influence, attributing his success solely to his own ingenuity and skills.
