Having been born on the Hutt planet of Nalhutta, Mekhane was grievously wounded after being hit with a high powered disruptor round during a turf war on the planet. He was forced to close his technical shop as he we confined to a bacta tank for the forceable future. The disruptor had managed to fry most of his nervous system and did irreparable damage to his lungs. After being approached by Gorr Desilijic Ebelt, an up and coming hutt crime lord and being offered a means to work again, he moved to Tattoine and went about his work. As his old body remained suspended in his bacta tank, his mind (now connected to his new body) helped to establish the hutt's control over mos intha. Though he had been brought onboard the venture with respect, the hutts mistreatment of those who work under him has not left Mekhane without any new wounds.
