H-P-D was created by a human male called John, who was suffering from a rare disease. John created H-P-D using antique droid parts, as John was once a collector of gear from around 3000 BBY. In H-P-D's job, he took care of John and made life as pleasurable as possible. H-P-D served John for around 10 years, in which a bond was formed between the droid and the dying man. During this time, H-P-D never had his memory wiped and started to developed a personality. This was a new experience for H-P-D, since the rule was that all droids had to get their memory wiped periodically. Because of John's "no memory wiping" rule, H-P-D developed a bond to John, but one unfaithful day changed everything for H-P-D. H-P-D was driving John around the city when their vehicle malfunctioned. H-P-D tried to land the vehicle as safely as possible, but was faced with a terrible decision; does H-P-D land the vehicle on the busy street, thus endangering innocent lives, or does H-P-D try to land in a construction site, thus nearly guaranteeing John's demise. In a hurried decision, John order H-P-D crash into the construction site, this command resulted in John dying. Feeling conflicted over this action, H-P-D reached out to John's offspring, Eric and Sarah, in order to serve them and help them with coping over John's death. John's offspring wanted nothing to do with H-P-D, but H-P-D knew something had to be done. H-P-D set off with John's old Remnant Arkanian Bounty Hunter collector armour with one goal in mind: To make credits and help provide for John's offspring. H-P-D decided that the best way to earn money was to become a bounty hunter; after all, if someone has a bounty on them, then they probably deserve what's coming to them.

H-P-D is an old 2V-R8 protocol droid enhanced with new technology. H-P-D has a gray outer shell, with red markings under the creases in H-P-D's chaises. H-P-D has red eyes and has a red insignia on his chest in the shape of two diagonal red lines that turn into vertical lines. Both of these lines are parallel to each other.
