Born and raised on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyk, Harkurgorr was once a young warrior with an adventurous heart. As much as he loved his home, he desired to experience the wider galaxy. And eventually, with his people's blessing, he left Kashyyk behind to ply his skills abroad. Harkurgorr was quick to make a name for himself as an astute and capable fighter, and he often found himself hired as a bodyguard for travelers. Harkurgorr favored this work, as it allowed him to experience a great range of places and people, and the defense of others came naturally to him. He was content.

Then The Republic fell, and everything else that mattered fell with it.

Harkurgorr was present at the galactic capital of Corusant when it happened. He saw the aftermath of the Jedi Temple's destruction, and the growing unrest of the populace in the face of Palpatine's tyrannical rule. And with the loosening and repeal of slavery laws not long thereafter, he was likely one of the very first of the Wookiee to be chained, ambushed and sedated by career slavers now perfectly comfortable operating in the light of day. His Ryyk blades taken from him, Harkurgorr found himself sold to a shipping company. He was forced to haul cargo to and from shipping bays by hand, day in and day out with scarce rest. Affixed with a shock collar and unable to be understood, he was reduced to a pack animal. And in such a state, even his warrior's dignity could only hold out for so long.

He was being transported on board a cargo vessel to an unloading bay when he finally acted. Harkurgorr ignored the pain of his restraints, and he opted for tooth and claw in the absence of blades. The Empire had made a beast of him, and so it was a beast that maimed everyone aboard that ship and sent it crashing into Corusant's iron depths. The last thing Harkurgorr saw was flames, and then darkness.

He woke up in a crude medical facility, feeling cold and pained, attended by droids and staring down the beady red eyes of a pale-skinned Chevin. Her name was Chemhoss. She had saved Harkurgorr, pulled him from the burning wreck he'd left behind, but at a cost.

Ambition; Freedom: Even in his youth, Harkurgorr never cared for restraints or restrictions. Now pinned with immense debt and living under an Empire that sees him as an animal, Harkurgorr desires the agency to choose his own path more than ever.

Causes; Overthrow the Empire: Harkurgorr has suffered much, and he holds The Empire responsible for most of it. As much as his anger demands it, he knows that to fight them directly would be to chase a second, pointless death. That doesn't mean he won't undermine them wherever possible though.

Debt (20): In exchange for her efforts nursing him back to health from near death, Harkurgorr owes an exorbitant amount of credits to Chemhoss. A small-time crime lord operating out of Corusant's lower levels. She also supplied the bulk of his funds and equipment for getting set up as a mercenary, further increasing his debt.

Harkurgorr is a tall Wookie, standing around 8-ft. His body is completely covered in burn scars, with all that remains of his fur being patches of peach fuzz. He wears an armored body suit that leaves his arms exposed, and a distinctive cylindrical helmet that completely hides his head, with just a thin visor to see through. Otherwise, he wears a rectangular backpack covered in pockets and compartments, as well as a utility belt holding his vibrosword and several stimpacks.
