Amaji grew on an enslaved Kashyyyk working as a lumberman in the slave camps cutting down wroshyr trees. He grew up with fable from older workers and camp elders of fierce and powerful wookie warriors renown in the galaxy for their strength. Amaji, who was big and strong even by wookie standards, felt a burning desire to join his fabled brothers and train as a wookie battlemaster. So in secret he and a few other brave wookies learned the art of close quarter combat in a desperate attempt to defy imperial rule. Before the wookies could even branch out from the basics their club was discover and quickly crushed. As a punishment Amaji and his brothers were sent to the spice mines of Kessel. An average wookie would have died in 3 months in the kessel spice mines, unfortunately for Amaji he was not average. He survived as brothers died around him. seeking revenge he fled the spice mines by stealing away on a smugglers cargo ship, using a riot as cover. It was shortly after that when amaji began suffering from withdraws. His sustained exposure to the spice on Kessel and the torment he went through watching his friends die slowly beside him left Amaji with a crippling addiction and no willpower to fight it.

Amaji is motivated by the stories of his youth, seeking fame and glory in battle wherever he can. He experiences with the Empire have demoralized him from believing they can be beat and does not wish to get on their bad side.
