Ben was born in the year 22 BBY. His father is Roe Spax, a human smuggler. His mother was a miraluka. Although a half breed, Ben took after his father in that his was born with eyes and did not seem to have his mother’s gift with the Force. He was raised mostly by his mother and always wished we had been more like her. Often as a child he would sit, eyes closed and try to “sense” the world around him.

Roe was a successful smuggler who eventually gained enough wealth and men to be the captain of a small pirate force. His crew was loyal to his as he carefully handpicked them all and treated them well. They were “Gentlemen” pirates, targeting ships belonging to the Trade Federation or Banking Guild rather than simple travelers. Ben remembers fondly when his father would come home after months of traveling the galaxy. He would bring back trinkets as well as exciting stories of faraway planets and strange aliens. The crew consisted of many of these strange alien races and would frequent their home between travel. Ben grew up respecting all species and so it offended him that the Empire would treat any so cruelly. He also desired to see these wonderful places first hand, but his father insisted it was too dangerous at his young age.

Because of Roe’s illicit career as well as Lehcar’s Force sensitive nature the family had to live in hiding. So Roe had established a small colony hidden away on a back water forested planet in the Dorilan system. There is where his as well as his crew’s families called home. It was a mostly peaceful life. Ben grew up playing with the children of his father’s crew. Because he was the Captain’s son his was treated almost like a prince of the colony. There were dangerous predators in the forest but the settlements defenses kept them at bay for the most part. Still, Ben had to learn early on how to hunt and survive in the wild.

In the year 2 BBY, when Ben was 20 years old his mother received a vision of her beloved husband captured and his ship destroyed. This disturbed Ben and to clear his mind he went into the forest for a walk, one of his favorite pass times. Just as he was returning a small Imperial armada appeared out of hyperspace and bombarded the colony. Ben was at the forest’s edge and hid and so survived. He was the only one. Imperial forces, sent to the ground to search for survivors tracked him for several days before giving up, declaring him “dead”. After they left the planet he was forced to bury the corpses of his mother and friends and then survived the now harsher wilds for 6 months. After that time a sullustan trader, who obviously hadn’t heard of the raid, came to the ruins of the colony. Ben was able to barter passage off the planet with him.

Because his mother’s vision only saw his father being captured he is convinced that his father is still alive somewhere, perhaps a prisoner or a slave. So now Ben is traveling the galaxy for the first time, in search of information about his father. His search so far has been unfruitful but he continues undaunted. He has also given thought to this Rebel Alliance that he hears people talk of. He harbors much ill will toward the Empire for the death of his mother, and friends and the destruction of his home. And perhaps through their knowledge and resources he could learn the whereabouts of his father.
In the meantime he has been forced to use the illicit skills he picked up from his father and his crew to fund his travel and search.
Since his time stranded in the jungle he has found his senses seem to be sharper. He can't quite explain it but it is as if he can feel the people around him and how they feel. He had learned there is much more sadness in the galaxy then just his own.

Quest-Rescue
Ben is in search of the whereabouts of his father and wishes to rescue him. After that he can think of his revenge against the Empire.

Ben has dark hair and features from his father. He has a rugged look, although he is still young, from his time out doors. His dark hair is often in need of a cut. He stands 1.7 meters tall and has a lean, muscular build. His father would joke that he has his mother's eyes. They are dark and strong, burning with an uncanny perception, as if he can read a person's thoughts through his gaze. Often though they are as big as sullustan eyes as he is taking in the strange sights of the galaxy for the first time.
Ben dresses for travel and the wild, where he is always comfortable.
Before the death of his mother and everyone he knew he was a happy, gregarious youth. That part of him still exists but is subdued. He is quick with a joke and a smile but can be as serious as death when trouble starts. Often he falls into a silent melancholy.
