Wyn was born to a well established merchant family in Corellia. From an early age, she traveled with her parents as they went about their business, trading medical supplies across the Core Worlds. They instilled a strong ethic of generosity and service in young Wyn, and told her many times that the worthiest mission in life was to give help to those who needed it. Much of the profit from the family business went towards providing essential supplies to those who needed them most. Their ship sometimes sheltered people who were on the run from the empire.

Although her parents made her complete school by correspondence, her focus was always on helping out with the family trade. Much more of her time was spent chatting to customers and organizing cargo than on school books. Her mother made sure she knew how to defend herself, and she has had to use those skills to protect their goods from bandits more than once.

When she was 16, she met her mentor, Khoan Halcorr, a doctor who provides care to those who can't afford it in the lower levels of Coruscant. Her family intermittently donated supplies to his practice. She spent some time working as Halcorr's assistant, and during that time witnessed the suffering brought about by inequality. This strengthened her conviction that the most worthwhile thing to spend her life doing was helping the most disadvantaged. Although she no longer works at the clinic, she remains in touch with Halcorr.

Moving around so often meant that although she has many acquaintances, her closest ties are to her family. She has two younger siblings: her brother Val, who is 20, and Lissa, who is 17. Her grandparents on both sides of the family have always been part of her life.
