Background
Tala-Rae was born on Voss however it was clear from her birth that she was not like the others of her species as she had a human appearance. Her mother, a Voss Mystic, immediately isolated the child at the Tower of Prophecy. Even though she exhibited strong potential as a seer she would never be accepted as a Voss Mystic or receive her clan mark. Her mother reached out through the force to find a solution, her daughter’s destiny and saw it was with the Jedi who could train her to reach her potential when the Voss would not. Her mother contacted the Jedi and arranged for them to take her daughter in secret. Before giving her daughter over to the Jedi she tattooed the clan markings of both Tala’s parents’ clans on her back.
At the Jedi temple, Tala excelled at sensing through the cosmic force and even exhibited psychometry – a power often reserved within the Kiffar species. As she grew she became more curious about the markings and eventually was able to conclude she was a hybrid of a Voss and a Kiffar – both near-human species. While she clearly had taken on the traits of the Kiffar, she seemed to have inherited the Voss’ ability to see into the future and connection to the cosmic force.
When it became time to be selected as a padawan, she was selected by a Jedi Investigator named Santh Narrmorr. Once the Clone Wars broke out, they were assigned to scouting missions and recon; often traveling together in missions ranging from undercover infiltration on planets to scouting space for Separatist outposts. When Order 66 occurred, they were in deep space searching for a secret Separatist base believed to be in a sector of unknown space. They had already mapped more than half the sector when the temple signal broadcast all Jedi should return to the temple. Having sensed a great disturbance in the force, Santh ordered Tala to finish mapping the system as it was considered a critical mission and while the padawan completed the mission her master would attend to matters at the temple. She was instructed only to fall back, as per protocol, if she was discovered or found the needed recon.
Before the system had been fully mapped, Tala received a change in the beacon stating to avoid the temple and go into hiding. Upon receiving the new transmission, Tala reached out through the force to see her future if she stayed in the system. She saw herself discovering the hidden Separatist base, however, it was at the cost of her life. She then decided to return to Takodana, where her master had once taken her on a mission. She landed miles from the castle and changed out of her Jedi robes into one of her covert mission outfits. She then had her R2 unit assist in downloading all the data from the ship – which included transmissions, messages, frequency logs, ship data files, navigation records, and all sensor data from their most recent mission in unknown space. After the files were securely downloaded she then hid the data chip in a blaster, under the grip. While she worked on that, the R2 unit was overwriting the ships computer systems and registry data multiple times to make the recovery of any data impossible. R2 programmed an autopilot program that would fly the ship over the ocean and then slowly power down to allow the ship to sink. The safety protocols were either disabled or reversed to hasten the process of the ship sinking into the depths. Once this was programmed, they began the journey to Maz’s castle together.
Tala had only been here once before – she had sensed that Maz had a connection to the force and knew as a pirate queen she would have access to the resources Tala now needed. Tala spoke to Maz privately and offered her a deal – her lightsaber for a new identity, including a fully valid identification card and safe passage to a world in the outer rim. Maz accepted the trade and when she went to leave the castle she was no longer Tala but had become Nicola Vos.
Tala never learned if her master had received the new transmission before arriving at the Jedi temple. She often wonders if he made it away safely, however, her ability to try to find him through the force is fallible and she stopped trying out of fear of being tracked or found. Until she has a reason to try again or has improved her ability to find him she does not see more attempts as a viable option.

Overthrow the Empire: The Galactic Empire has created a civilization based on inequality and injustice. The character seeks to end its tyranny, possibly in cooperation with the Alliance.
Understand the Jedi / Je'daii Code: The character knows the codes of these ancient orders. She follows it, feeling that it is something worth her belief and devotion, however is torn between which code is the true path for the future of the order.
Morality

Strength:
Discipline: Rigorous mental and physical discipline comes naturally to the character. He does not make choices rashly, and every action is precise and selected. Those who think they can goad the character into making foolish choices are sorely mistaken.
Weakness:
Obsession: On a previous mission, she and her master found a force nexus where each was given visions of events from the past, present, and future. Along this spiritual journey, Tala saw fragments of the Prime Jedi and their split, along with the Je'daii Code. Ever since that event she has become obsessed with learning about the origins of the order, the complete truth of the split, and finding out about the Prime Jedi / Je'daii.
Description
Nicola (Tala) has always been a disciplined and reserved thinker. She thinks before she acts, or when acting abruptly is always thinking of the next possible moves. She is near impossible to goad her into anything. She has abandoned the look of a Jedi for that of a galactic citizen.
She typically has her long hair styled up and puts forth effort to be presentable but not overly memorable. She prefers to change her look and clothes to match the traditional look of the planet she is on to blend in - it was part of her training and mission and has helped her from sticking out.
