Background

Perfectly adapted for life in the swamps, the rancors native to Dathomir have a hard, horned shell and webbed feet. Large and ponderous, they travel in herds. While dangerous, they do not exhibit the same predatory viciousness of other rancor subspecies. This may be due in part to their diet of gelatinous gastropods, gelagrubs, and plant-animal hybrids like the yerdua poison-spitter. While they once remained in the jungles, rarely threatening the natives or their farms, their behaviors have changed during the war. Now some roam alone and confused, causing destruction when they blunder into settlements. Ja'am is one such rancor.
